When you are in your Holy Spirit-given function, you are guaranteed to be happy. When you seek for happiness through external means you will always feel incomplete. Think about Hollywood. In Hollywood there is great wealth, fame, glamor, and glitz. The ego says, if you had those things then you could be happy. But it’s apparent that it’s not really the case! Instead you see suicide and depression! Why is it that the people that have most of the things that the rest of the world is looking for, aren’t happy?
Jesus says that it’s not that we ask for too much but that we ask for far too little. Open your mind up beyond the past, beyond the familiar, and into a new way of looking at the world!
You associate intimacy with communication between bodies. Even if one body is far away from the other, you text and Skype and speak on the phone to keep communication going. When there’s no communication it’s as if there is a break in the connection. You’ve connected communication with words between bodies. The ego-mind thinks that communication is on this horizontal plane, and that can be broken very easily. It’s broken by death, one person moving away, hard feelings between friends.
A Course in Miracles teaches that God is with you all the time, telling you you are wonderful, beautiful, perfect, just as you are right now! The way to get in touch with that Voice is to teach what you learn. Let it speak through you. We have to give it away to keep it!
