Violence is in the mind; not in the world. The ego belief system opposes oneness, love, and God, and it is this alone that is violent and abusive. In other words, it is our judgment alone that is violent. Jesus gave us the two most helpful words in all of history when he said, “Judge not.” Therefore, when you have an upset and are perceiving violence in the world, the most helpful thing you can do for yourself is ask for help in releasing your own judgment. Forgiveness is the answer to all perceptions of violence.

“What do you do with the question of violence? What A Course in Miracles is really doing is it is basically saying that the only way you will experience true peace is to come to peace in your heart, peace in your mind, and come to a peaceful perception of the world. You might remember in the Bible, in Corinthians, it’s: “you’re looking through a darkened glass.” Well this egoic perception of fragmentation is violent, it’s a darkened glass, and though we may see some things that we would call “pockets of goodness,” our pockets of goodness in distorted perception are always broken into by violent perceptions.”
