“Thy Will be done” is the ultimate prayer for realigning the mind to the Will of God. It is the remembering that we have one Will in which we share with God. All deep spiritual practices emphasize emptying the mind of all concepts of who we think we are, and coming to the realization of Who we truly are. As we let go of the personality self we transcend into the recognition of our Christ Self, our true Identity. This journey is not about seeking to change the form for a better worldly outcome, but changing the very way we look upon the world. The goal is a pristine state of mind beyond all judgement of good and bad. There is an experience to be beheld where we already have everything, and are everything.

If any of you have studied any eastern philosophies like the Buddha, the Buddha talked about emptying the mind. There is a great focus on that and even Advaita Vedanta, Ramana Maharshi, a lot of fantastic non dual pathways are all saying empty your mind. Empty your mind of the contents of consciousness. There is not really some kind of positive goal that is in the world. You don’t see (this with) Buddhists. They have shaved their heads, they have got their orange robes on, and they’re not waiting to hit the lottery or something to go, “Ah! I’m almost there!” as if some outcome in the world will show favor, like things are going well, like you’re close, you hit the jackpot or something like that. I think the Course is really pretty much the same way. That’s why we say, “Thy will be done, God’s will be done.” I would say its not only the safest prayer, but it’s the only prayer we have ultimately. But we have to gain confidence in it, we have to gain trust in it, we have to feel the miraculous experiences of that state of mind. Maybe even glimmers of that state of mind to go, “Hmm, Thy Will be done, God’s Will be done.” We need something to say, “I am going to keep coming” that is not necessarily an outcome in the world. So this is where I would say the Course takes us beyond what sometimes I call “the magic of manifesting.” Not that there is anything wrong with it, because if you feel very deprived and lacking and you need some symbols along the way to show how powerful your mind is, that’s good. That can be very helpful. But it’s still preliminary. It’s not like where its all heading. Where it’s heading is we have everything, we are everything, we have always been everything and there is a deep resonance with that.
