The chakra system is not mentioned in A Course in Miracles, for it is merely another set of symbols that can be used by the Holy Spirit or by the ego, depending on one’s purpose. Used by the Spirit, the chakra system could be a helpful stepping stone in one’s journey towards getting in touch with one’s mind. Used by the ego, it can be a delay maneuver that keeps the mind believing there is causation in form.
“Everything that is part of perception is just serving the purpose of showing what is going on in the mind. So, in that sense, whether you were looking at the stars and astrology, or different energy systems that seem to involve the body including the chakra system, those are symbols that are like pointers to the mind.
And there are many, many systems—numerology, etc.—that are all part of the perceptual world. So when they talk about opening up the chakras, it’s like symbolically opening up the flow of energy; like a pictorial representation of something being closed or blocked and needing to open.”
The body is a projection. It can be seen as a reflection in form of what is happening in the mind. If the mind has repressed or denied anything, this will symbolically represented in the body and the world. Everything is mind. There is nothing outside of you. All things that the mind perceives—bodies, energy, physical illness, systems—are symbols in form of your state of mind. The purpose is to see it as mind, and not apart from it.
On this journey, it is good to remember the purpose. The pathway of A Course in Miracles takes you beyond words, beyond symbols, and into stillness.
