The doer is the personal self and this self wants everything to be under conscious control. A Course in Miracles teaches us that, “Miracles are habits, and should be involuntary. They should not be under conscious control.” (ACIM, T-1.I.5:1-2.) There is no formula on how to undo the doer, it has to be under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. You cannot take personal responsibility for the seeming journey. You cannot as a person direct the undoing because the person IS the doer! Listening and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the practical application of the ACIM Workbook Lessons leads to experiences of peace and happiness, and that’s where the undoing of the doer occurs.
Undoing the Ego
Plan Bs or Present Trust?
Jesus will guide us so our journey is smooth and joyful. We only feel pain and sacrifice when we resist. Plan Bs are resistance, used to support the self-concept rather than the Christ Self. Yet the Holy Spirit and Jesus show us that trust is justified. Are we willing to trust so much that we let go of our plan Bs? Our problem is that first we decide what we want, and then we ask for guidance. The asking needs to come first. When we are identified with a self-concept we don’t know our best interests; we are completely lost and need the help of the Holy Spirit. Thankfully, that help is available to us anytime we ask for it
Give up Your Plan B
A plan B is anything we have in mind for our future happiness while ignoring the present moment. We are fighting ourselves with these distractive plan Bs. To be happy we need to trust the present Love of God, to trust it so much that we give up the plan Bs. In no situation do we know our own best interests. Yet we think we do. We tend to first decide what we want and then ask Spirit for direction. Instead, by deciding not to decide, we can open ourselves to let Spirit decide for us. In this way we come to experience that all real pleasure comes from doing God’s will.
Rage against God
This whole world was made to cover over the rage against God and the more we expose it, the more intense it seems to get. If we had been told beforehand how intense it was going to get, we would have never signed up for this. We need the help of the Holy Spirit and our mighty companions to help lift this anger, so it can be released.
Sexual Repression & Promiscuity
The Spirit will unwind our mind from all the sexual repression and denial that has gone on, and it will use symbols in a highly individualized way depending on each person’s patterns. For example, one who has been very sexually promiscuous in the past may very well be Guided to be celibate for a time. On the other hand, one who has repressed their sexuality may be Guided to start having more sexual experiences which undo old ideas about what sexuality means. In either case…
What Does Her Crying Mean?
When someone is crying, we usually perceive it as the release of deep emotions of sadness or joy. But the truth is that everything we see on the screen of the world was projected for the purpose of keeping us from knowing who we are. Separation is the name of the ego’s game, and perception is its playing field, and it relies on the “I-know” mind, the assumption that we know what things mean, to keep us in the game. The Holy Spirit wants to use perception instead for the purpose of bringing us back to a state of “unified playing,” which is the happy dream. Forgiveness is letting the Holy Spirit show you the world anew, after you have released all meaning that was given to the world.
From Desperation to Inspiration
To go from desperation to inspiration is allowing yourself to be done through by spirit. In his book “Walden,” Henry David Thoreau wrote, “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” This certainly applies to the human condition, which is a projection of the ego, or the belief in separation from God. Everyone who believes they are in this world has a deep, unconscious fear of God, which is experienced as a fear of future consequences. In David’s life, he began to recognize how much his life and his behaviors were motivated by this fear of consequences and how this was leading him nowhere.
Our Divine Life Insurance Policy
Accepting the Atonement for ourselves is the ultimate insurance policy. The Atonement is the perfect solution to the belief in separation. It will always bring us to safety. It will always bless us and lead us towards God’s Will for us, which is perfect happiness. Whenever the ego appears to tempt or threaten us, we don’t need to try to change or fix anything in the world. All we can do is change our mind about the world.
A Parable of Unwinding
“A Course in Miracles” teacher David Hoffmeister shares about the rapid unwinding process that Living Miracles Messenger of Peace Frances Xu went through. It can seem like the spiritual journey would be easier if your life situation didn’t have many of the trappings of the world, such as marriage, career, mortgage, etc. But actually, it depends solely on the desire of one’s heart! So, no matter what your circumstances, step by step, at whatever pace you are ready for, the Holy Spirit will unwind you from this dream! Enjoy this profound parable of Awakening!
The Inevitable End of Fear
You don’t even know what you truly fear because it is so pushed out of awareness that, if you were aware of it, you would not be able to hold on to a personal identity that is separate from this truth. Yet, whether you take this leap now or actively choose not to, makes no difference to the inevitable. It stays shining just like the sun, no matter where it is. The end of fear is always waiting for you. But you can choose to delay it if you want to stay in a fearful thought system. The change of mind that you are asked to make is from fear to love.
