The Holy Spirit is not a form. Devotion is not directed to a teacher or image. Give each day to the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit for the miracle of experiencing perfect equality with everyone you meet. Giving yourself over to the practice of the ACIM lessons can be a devotion. Pray and follow guidance. God is not a personality. The way to worship God is to practice forgiveness and be as God created you. Be peaceful. See your Self beyond the body.
True Peace
How Can I Tell If I’m Intellectualizing?
Intellectualizing? Empty the mind and drop all concepts. The Holy Spirit is like a vacuum cleaner, sweeping out the mind of all its concepts. Education of the world is useless here. Soften into what the Buddha called “emptiness.” Are you being defensive? Then you are identifying with illusion. A woman took my book and tossed it in the garbage can; she thought I’d be very upset. I was unmoved. When you are not intellectualizing, you will feel mentally passive, no longer identified with the “do-er,” the doing mind.
Holy Spirit Management of Your Mind
The only thing that can be changed is the mind. Jesus teaches us in “A Course in Miracles” Workbook Lesson 7, “I see only the past.” (W-7) The world is a projection from wrong-minded perception that has already past. It’s like watching a film that’s “in the can,” so talking back to the movie screen is ridiculous because what you are speaking to are merely shadows. You can always have a change of mind, a state of peace, and an alignment with the Holy Spirit. Letting the Holy Spirit manage your mind will take you into divine providence!
Allow Yourself to Be Spiritually Awakened
You cannot wake yourself, but you can allow yourself to be spiritually awakened. Resign now as your own teacher and call for Spirit’s help. Be “taught through,” by demonstrating a forgiving attitude. Desire the peace of mind that you deserve. You may encounter ego backlash. Don’t analyze the darkness; say “oops” and hand it over to the Holy Spirit.
You Are Not the Thinker
As you watch your thoughts and judgments, you can feel small. It is freeing to realize that you are not the thinker of those thoughts. This realization frees you from identification with your thoughts. Your mind is full of impostor thoughts trying to convince you that you are not really you. Your real thoughts are those you think with God.
Is Manifesting Possible?
Manifesting demonstrates the power of the mind. But manifesting is asking for the past to be repeated in a form you think you would prefer. What do you really want? The past is gone; the future is but imagined. They are defenses against the truth of the holy instant. Peace of mind is more important. Don’t settle for crumbs.
Being Single: Relationships and Commitment
Being single or “in relationship” is a concept that the Spirit uses as a teaching aid. The key to relationships is forgiveness and this is the only purpose of relationships as taught in ACIM. The use of romantic relationships can be a great speed-up for the mind to recognize its relationship with God.
We seem to have a variety of relationships. Yet we are teaching and learning about ourselves in every interaction. We want to tune into guidance and relationships are part of the plan. We want to forgive as deeply as we can in every encounter. Building commitment with the Holy Spirit helps us face the darkness that comes up.
New Way of Being
The further we follow the spiritual path, we see that everything is mind. We see everything in the world as aspects of what is within as thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and concepts. Therefore, if we see a problem, we don’t try to fix it out on the screen. That would be impossible. Rather, we go to our mind with Spirit to find the root of the seeming problem. Once we see the “cause” then we can ask for it to be removed for us. This is Spirit’s job. The result is a clearing, a shift in mind, a miracle. This is always joyful. Feeling joy, we don’t have an expectation or outcome of the form in mind. Nevertheless, form always reflects that change in mind. This is how powerful the mind is. It is more powerful than we know.
The Most Important Thing in This Lifetime
The most important thing in this lifetime that you seem to be in is mind-watching! It is the most important thing you can do. Dis-identify with judgmental thoughts and grievances. When you dissociate from those thoughts, you can see that you are not those thoughts. You are not a stream of guilt thoughts! Your identity is pure innocence. Jesus in ACIM asks you to give up all goals and find present peace.
Divine Providence
“A Course in Miracles” is taking us to God dependency. Person-based dependency is stressful and the scarcity principal is played out whether we are protecting wealth or trying to get it. Divine providence can only give. When we go deeper into divine providence, we transcend reciprocity entirely. There will only be peace of mind when we are dependent on God.
