Just like a child outgrows a favorite toy, as you move towards Awakening you are outgrowing the familiar. Everything is totally brand new! There is a sense of wonder. David shares his experience of how wonderful it is to not be sentimental, to not have an expectation. As soon as the mind clicks into the familiar, it is as if the mind knows something, and you don’t question the world. The agony of outgrowing the familiar brings openness, a freedom from conclusions, and joy.
True Joy
A Dream Is Just a Dream
As soon as we value anything of this world, we have put an attachment and expectations in front of our love. The mind is so powerful, as soon as we want something from this world, the world will want something from us. Specialness is a substitute for this divine love. This is not a path of renunciation, but rather just diving into the joy we’ve always known.
Into the Great Rays
The spiritual journey is fun. David gives examples of how the Holy Spirit uses symbols that we are attracted to, that help us arrive at an experience that is not of this world. We are entitled to miracles. David describes an experience where he goes into blazing light and all images are gone. We are not going to get hurled into heaven. We are preparing for it. It’s why we are on this journey, so that we can go into revelation readiness.
No Regrets!
Stop playing the guilt game as there is never any need for regrets! Regret is thought’s futile attempt to alter the past. People around us reflect back to us what we believe. When we let go, forgive, the whole world lights up and joy and innocence become our experience.
Death
The ego itself is a death wish and any time you are upset or feeling “off-center” in any way, that is actually an experience of temporary spiritual death. It is a death of awareness in the mind and has nothing to do with physical death at all, which is actually meaningless. What seems to be death of the body is just a change of scene and has no bearing on one’s state of mind. Supreme joy and happiness would be the overcoming of death; not death of the body, but of one’s awareness of God and Reality.
Ho’oponopono and the Helpfulness of Words
David speaks about the healing/forgiveness technique called ho’oponopono. The words themselves are meaningless unless they come from the core, unless you are in alignment. When the mind is not trained however, words/mantras can help stabilize it.
Positive Thinking and Healing Pleasure (Part 1)
To use positive affirmations without getting down to what is underneath is like putting sweet icing on a cake of mud. Your task is not to seek for love but to find and remove all the obstacles to the awareness of love’s presence. Everything you have built against love needs to be exposed and released. Any authentic spiritual path is more a journey through the darkness into the light. As you go much deeper, you realize that the ego set up a dualistic thought system of opposites to cover over the truth of being, the truth of pure Oneness. In that sense, the positive and negative were set up as a trick. Positive thinking may have initial benefits but people are then usually faced with dark unconscious guilt that is underneath the positive and the negative. They are both part of a defense mechanism that covers over the pure truth.
True Empathy
True Empathy is staying with the Christ, with what is real and true, regardless of the form or circumstance. David Hoffmeister shares about a life experience using true empathy while visiting a dying man in a Catholic home. This was not the David character speaking but instead, the experience of giving himself over for the Holy Spirit’s purposes in an uncompromising way. The ego and its thick layers of people-pleasing covers over the small, little self.
Relationship, Marriage, and True Union (Part 2)
David Hoffmeister shares on true union and relationships. The concept of marriage can be used by ego or Holy Spirit. Follow your guidance and let the Holy Spirit use the symbols. When he first started traveling, David was reminded that Spirit had a plan. He was all set to start out on his own, but Holy Spirit had a different idea! All symbols in form can be used for Awakening when they are given to your higher source. David shares, “I don’t really feel that there is any form that is more sacred than other forms. I see how the Holy Spirit can use all of the forms.”
Open to Joy
To the ego, opening is equated with loss, vulnerability, pain, and rejection. The Holy Spirit uses relationships to create new associations with love and appreciation. The ego says, “You are too joyful. Turn down your joy.” Open to joy. Your confidence will grow.
