The attachment to linear time is what produces the illusion of this entire cosmos and is what keeps us unaware of our Eternal Nature. Since our reality is Spirit, we will always feel like a fish out of water so long as we believe ourselves to be a human being in time. Just like a fish out of water, the human seems to flop around, shake a bit, and then die. But this unhappy dream is not real, and true freedom is ever available.

I Will Accept Atonement for Myself
Workbook Lesson 139 of “A Course in Miracles” states, “You are yourself. There is no doubt of this. And yet you doubt it.” (W-139.5:5-7) What’s the world made of? Death and sorrow. Yet, when we believe there is good or bad in the world, this is what the underlying belief is. All who come to this world come for death and sorrow. That’s the definition of coming into the world. You can call it what you want: incarnation or arriving in a hologram. Joys are so fleeting they cannot be possessed or even grasped. There are all these compromised wordily ideas which say “as long as you are here you are not enlightened.”
Having and Being
The word “having” is used very strangely on this planet, as a synonym for what you believe you possess. To the Spirit however, having is equated with being. What you have is what you are which is the Self as God created you. Therefore, you are in need of nothing. Love does not possess and Love is who we are. It is our identity, not something we possess, and this confusion is the central issue. Possessing involves “thing-ness” and a belief in parts. This belief in parts, and the possession of the parts, blocks the awareness of Love.
Does Spiritual Awakening Change Relationships?
Does spiritual awakening change relationships? As you move along a path of spiritual practice, what happens to interpersonal relationships? Another way to ask these questions is: Do you think in terms of persons and bodies? As your perception shifts, you get to a turning point where you see that you can let go of everything you believe is true. The scariest thing for the ego is for us to start opening up to the Spiritual Vision of Christ which takes us past the body and interpersonal relationships entirely. The Holy Spirit is taking us to a whole different perception of everything and everyone that we perceive; a way of opening to a deep intimacy to feel that deep Love that we’ve always known is there, a Love that includes everyone.
Effortless Awakening
The idea of effortless Awakening takes a total thought-reversal. You come from a mentality of “work hard and earn it.” You think you must plan, prepare, and scheme. If you want something, you have to figure out how to get it. When you carry this mentality into the awakening experience you experience guilt and anxiety. Did I do enough? Did I do it quickly enough, well enough? Will I ever be able to do it? We can let go of this old training!
