David Hoffmeister reminds us of the ACIM teaching that all is in the mind. All problems are mental problems. “A Course in Miracles” is a tool to take us into a consistently peaceful state of mind. While practicing the lessons of ACIM we experience the difference between a fear-based thought system and a love-based thought system. Through practice, we can learn to choose the loving thought system that gives us peace. In this way, we reduce stress and worry in our lives. Things that seem to happen in the world are neither good nor bad. It is the underlying thoughts and fears that need to be looked at.
Health and Sickness 5–10 mins, Body Issues, Creation and Extension, Insurance, Love, Perceptual Problem, Sickness, Symbols, True Forgiveness
David Hoffmeister teaches about spiritual practice and shares two parables about healing practices (yoga, massage) shifting from a focus on specific techniques and trying to fix the forms, to a unification with Spirit’s perception in which all illness is seen as misperception and the only correction for that misperception lies in forgiveness. All symptoms are effects and all symptoms are symbols which Spirit can use.
Addictions 10–30 mins, Addictions, Beliefs and Concepts, Comparison, Guidance, Love, Non-Judgment, Preferences, Separation, Symbols, Theory vs Experience, Transformation, True Forgiveness, Unified Perception
Use this video to find a space of questioning within yourself. “A Course in Miracles” remind the mind of wholeness. Are you a separate individual body, or are you whole, complete, unified awareness? Comparison is an ego device for maintaining the separation. People accept the world with which they’re presented. You must question the world and the core ego beliefs underneath it, such as comparison. All education in this world is based on comparison. Comparison is a defense mechanism against Love. A mystical experience is an experience of no judgment, no comparison. Desire love.
Relationships 10–30 mins, Anger, Distractions, Empty Your Mind, Feelings of Lack, Forgiven World, Perception, Purpose, Reflections, Self-Concept, Special Relationship, Specialness, Symbols, Unified Perception
The special relationship is a futile attempt to complete your self by adding another self. But completion can only be found within your mind. Your relationship mirrors what is in your mind. Does it serve the purpose of projection and blame? Or do you use it to help you identify your own feelings, thoughts, and beliefs so you can turn them over to the Holy Spirit?
Relationships 10–30 mins, Collaboration, Expectations, Holy Relationship, Mystical Experiences, Partnership, Playfulness, Presence, Roles, Special Relationship, Symbols, True Joy
When we try to compare romantic relationships vs. holy relationships, we have to be willing to expose everything and be true to ourselves. Romantic relationships are based on mutual need-fulfillment, on the “getting” mechanism. It keeps us in a closed state of mind, cut off from the greater love. Holy relationships are undefined, guided, and collaborative. Personal differences are set aside. They are dedicated to a higher purpose and are intensely joyful.
Relationships < 5 mins, Communication, Equality, Holy Relationship, Love, Purpose, Special Relationship, Symbols
Love and relationships can be reinterpreted by the Holy spirit if we are willing to see it another way. Love has no object; that is, True Love does not focus on one special relationship or one person. It loves all equally. We can use our personal relationships however, to take us to higher and higher realms of the experience of love, asking always, “what is the purpose?” A holy relationship is really reflective of our True Nature, of our love for God. It is not interpersonal. But the Holy Spirit can use anything the ego has made if it is given to Him. We will learn to check our motives for anything we do, particularly in relationship to others.
Inspiration 5–10 mins, Miracles, Playfulness, Revelatory Experience, Sacrifice, Symbols, True Joy, Unified Perception
The spiritual journey is fun. David gives examples of how the Holy Spirit uses symbols that we are attracted to, that help us arrive at an experience that is not of this world. We are entitled to miracles. David describes an experience where he goes into blazing light and all images are gone. We are not going to get hurled into heaven. We are preparing for it. It’s why we are on this journey, so that we can go into revelation readiness.
The Holy Spirit is like your intuitive Inner Voice, the Bridge back to your Higher Self. The Holy Spirit uses symbols of the dream world to guide you deeper inward until you can reach the point of releasing identification with ego entirely. At that point, you experience yourself as the Higher Self and at one with God.
Stress and Worry 5–10 mins, Ordering of Thoughts, Symbols, Transfer of Training, Uncovering Blocks, Unwinding from the World
A helpful video on ACIM daily lessons and how to use them! Going through the Workbook lessons of “A Course in Miracles” is a practical way to release your ideas about how this world sustains you. It takes our mind from believing it needs things in the world to observing that the mind really has no need but God. This makes things extremely easy. We’ll be given everything we need, not only to realize sacrifice is impossible but to see that true acceptance is acceptance of the Atonement.
