Miracles are involuntary and they cannot be controlled. This is how a joyful life is lived, by letting go and letting God; by not trying to control the world, and not trying to plan for the future. It’s okay to let go, you will not die by letting go of control, you will actually live!
A plan B is anything we have in mind for our future happiness while ignoring the present moment. We are fighting ourselves with these distractive plan Bs. To be happy we need to trust the present Love of God, to trust it so much that we give up the plan Bs. In no situation do we know our own best interests. Yet we think we do. We tend to first decide what we want and then ask Spirit for direction. Instead, by deciding not to decide, we can open ourselves to let Spirit decide for us. In this way we come to experience that all real pleasure comes from doing God’s will.
This whole world was made to cover over the rage against God and the more we expose it, the more intense it seems to get. If we had been told beforehand how intense it was going to get, we would have never signed up for this. We need the help of the Holy Spirit and our mighty companions to help lift this anger, so it can be released.
How do you change something that is not real? How do you live in a world that was made as an attack on God? What is the purpose of my life? As long as you believe in the ego, you’ll seem to have needs. When you’re coming from a place of lack, you don’t make the jump from needing things to needing nothing. The Holy Spirit uses the seeming needs to lift us higher until we realize we don’t have any needs. Enlightenment is an emptying out of all self-concepts and is a state of being. We now give all our seeming talents and needs to the Holy Spirit for the ultimate re-translation.
A woman who killed a bird while driving her car asks, “How to let go of the guilt?” The ego world is complex and meaningless. The dream the ego made is designed to be so complex that there will be a pervasive and suffocating feeling of being trapped in a very crazy place. You are not afraid of a bad and hostile world. The thing that scares you the most is meaninglessness. You’ll even make up good and bad to avoid meaninglessness. Yet the deeper you start to go down and expose more layers, the more you’ll see this meaninglessness. But eventually you’ll come to a point of surrender. You can’t figure out what anything means. In fact the only escape is to have all meaning over to Holy Spirit.
It takes a lot of mind training to become clear about your yes and no. In our community we use the elder brother approach. One who has gone before and who is consistently peaceful is someone to join with. The ego is concerned with autonomy. It takes much letting go of autonomous decisions to come into alignment with the Holy Spirit, to be done through by Spirit.
In response to a question about how to respond when there is apparent ego attack and resistance directed at oneself, David speaks about his experience learning that what is needed is to step back and let Holy Spirit lead the way, and surrendering to releasing all judgement of who needed help. The ego is like a steel screw wound into oak with a power screwdriver. Hammer, pliers, etc. will not work to get this screw out. It has to be unwound the way it went in. When you join your mind with the Holy Spirit, that screw will come out and Holy Spirit will gently guide how to unwind from obligations that have been set up by the ego. It may be slow to start with but the unwinding is certain. We all are sustained by the Love of God and have just forgotten it.
Any sense of guilt in relationships, whether it’s big or small, is showing you your belief in separation. It is like the ego has dealt you a hand of cards. Each card is a relationship. Every single relationship has guilt in it. The Spirit wants you to play fifty-two card pick-up! Reshuffle the entire deck. Give each relationship over to the Holy Spirit. Some of the cards will be given back to you with His purpose and in His order. Some of the cards will disappear! Shift to a place of absolute trust. Feel the Holy Spirit work through you in each relationship.
You can follow Jesus out of the world and become God-dependent. If you give yourself over to following your intuition/Spirit one hundred percent, so deeply that you’re willing to let go of your ordinary perception of the world and of yourself, then that’s where experiences of miracles come consistently in your awareness. You can hold onto nothing. A mystical experience will reveal to you who you really are in Spirit/God.
