Healing can be fun! One purpose of these gatherings is to come together and share what works in order to save time for everyone. Our ultimate purpose is to awaken in God’s Presence as One, and the journey need not be difficult. As “A Course in Miracles” teaches us, we can become “happy learners” and allow the Holy Spirit to work with our mind in a way that gently turns our perception from upside-down thinking (ego-aligned) to right-side up (Spirit-aligned). All topics and questions aimed at this glorious goal are welcomed and encouraged!
Stillness
From Doer to Pure Being
The body is part of a self-concept we could call “the doer.” The spiritual journey is a transition from being identified with the “the doer” to the experience of being “done through” by the Spirit in order to experience one’s Self as Pure Being. Trying to meditate your way to this state can be “tedious and very time consuming,” (T-18.VII.4:7-8,11) yet the willingness to be “done through” allows the Stillness to re-enter instantly and effortlessly. Such is the gateway to Joy and Pure Being!
Hearing Internal Wisdom
Ready to hear your own internal wisdom speaking instead of the racket of ego? When ego thoughts are very loud, it can be hard to hear the whisper of your heart. Tune in. At first you begin with tiny impressions that seem to lead you by their feeling nature. They are very subtle. Watch for synchronicity. It can often be quite simple and practical. As you open yourself to guidance more and more, it can become like a clear stream of thought. The same Presence speaks to everyone, yet it is highly individualized.
How Can I Tell If I’m Intellectualizing?
Intellectualizing? Empty the mind and drop all concepts. The Holy Spirit is like a vacuum cleaner, sweeping out the mind of all its concepts. Education of the world is useless here. Soften into what the Buddha called “emptiness.” Are you being defensive? Then you are identifying with illusion. A woman took my book and tossed it in the garbage can; she thought I’d be very upset. I was unmoved. When you are not intellectualizing, you will feel mentally passive, no longer identified with the “do-er,” the doing mind.
The Power of Prayer
The belief system of the ego taints your mind, and its thoughts are not your real thoughts. They are a web of distortion that springs out of the idea that you could separate from your Creator. The ego arose from your desire for something more than everything. Jesus says in “A Course in Miracles” that truth will be returned to you by your desire. The power of prayer is everything; everything emanates from it. When your desire is unified your perception is unified. Miracles are your birthright but purification is necessary first.
Modern Mysticism
David Hoffmeister shares on modern mysticism and the miracle of changed perception. “A Course in Miracles” is a pointer towards non-dual awareness. Once you taste the stillness of the mystical, non-dual experience, everything changes. In this teaching, David Hoffmeister reminds us that ACIM guides us towards bringing illusions in to truth, not the other way around. You can’t bring spirit into your workplace; you can’t spiritualize your relationships. If you try to use ACIM to make a better planet, you will fail. Once we have that one non-dual moment, that experience of Oneness, then we begin to apply it without exception. It is an experience of mind. You realize that you are perfect just as you are now.
Awake in the Dream
In “A Course in Miracles,” the Real World is equated with the State of Enlightenment. It is a state of mind that is an actual experience resulting from an acceptance of our Self as a pure Creation of a Loving God. The Course offers a very direct and radical path towards Awakening to this Truth which involves releasing the belief in separation. During this interview conducted by Penelope Chatterton back in 1998, David explores many topics including the true meaning of forgiveness, the idea that sickness is a decision, and the incredible Joy that is experienced when one relinquishes the idea of judgment!
Beauty Is a State of Mind
In this video, David talks about how beauty is a state of mind. To the Holy Spirit everything is love or a call for love. Yet we are unable to distinguish these two orders of reality because we are bound to form and do not understand spiritual Truth. The body’s eyes were made not to see. The five senses are in cahoots with the ego as instruments of judgment. Beauty is the state of mind of non-judgment. Beauty is within, in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is in the mind, not the senses. This state of mind feels beauty everywhere, all the time, regardless of apparent physical conditions. Everything is consciousness, unified, the quantum field. Unification of perception is happiness.
Follow the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit sees only two orders of thought: love or a call for love. You as a person cannot make this distinction. Yet, this distinction is the gateway back to eternal life. Therefore, this important distinction is the Holy Spirit’s job to make for you when you surrender your will for His. This sends the mind into a state of humbleness where the prayer to the Holy Spirit is “show me.” Ultimately, we do not follow people, we follow Spirit. David Hoffmeister is a living example of the teachings in “A Course in Miracles.” For those who are feeling the call to Awaken, David Hoffmeister offers pure inspiration! “A Course in Miracles” is a pointer towards non-dual awareness, Oneness.
The Awakening Experience
Thoughts produce feelings. Awareness of the body is unnatural; the body is just a projection of the mind. It is a practice that takes you to an inner awareness. When you have practiced well, the body will not feel at all. Don’t judge bodily feelings. The body is nothing. Mind-body-spirit connection is all part of the projection as there is no connection between Spirit-Mind and the body. The Body seems to surround you, but there is nothing outside you. The mind-body connection seems to be real as the the mind is deceived into thinking it is a body, separate from other bodies. Mind and body have no meeting place. Mind and Spirit are one.
