The Holy Spirit is in our mind and there is a way of seeing the world with the Holy Spirit, which is non-judgment. The Holy Spirit is the remembrance of God/the Presence in our mind that does not see error.
Spiritual Vision
The Fear of I Am-Ness
In “A Course in Miracles,” Jesus tells us the body’s eyes do not see and the body’s ears do not hear. It’s quite a trick when we’ve been associating seeing with eyeballs and hearing with ears. That is how thick the mesmerizing of the ego is. We have a deep underlying fear of real spiritual vision. The fear to look within keeps the ego in place. Starting to look within dissolves it. ACIM is a pointer towards non-duality.
Spiritual Vision
The body’s eyes do not see. The first 10 lessons of “A Course in Miracles” lay out this idea very clearly and springboard into the grandaddy of all ideas, “God is in everything I see because God is in my mind.” (W-29) Of course, God isn’t in the table as I see it. Yet the practical element, while I still believe I see through the body’s eyes, is seeing the purpose the table holds along with all the universe: to know I am one with Source. The Holy Spirit equalizes all the images of the world and shows me their sameness so I can be steady and at peace. When I see differences, I am blind. Coming into spiritual vision, I start to see sameness and my mind begins to loosen from the inability to judge. The result is truly peace.
Giving It All over to the Holy Spirit
It doesn’t matter how high your principles are; if you don’t apply them, it’s not going to give you peace of mind. If you took just ONE spiritual principle and applied it in your life across the board with all your situations, you could reach Enlightenment so much faster than by trying to accumulate hundreds of principles. And if you really wanted to boil “A Course in Miracles” down to one idea or principle, it would be the serenity prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” The things I cannot change would be anything of this world of form, of time and space; the only thing I CAN change is my mind; and the wisdom to know the difference is the Holy Spirit’s Love which has already been given.
Fear of Expressing
On the spiritual journey, there is a need to bring up and expose thoughts. What if you have a fear of expressing your thoughts, emotions, and weaknesses? In “The Matrix,” Neo is flushed through a drain-pipe and then lifted up, out of the mess, to his companions. Say to the Holy Spirit, “I’m enmeshed in the personal. It’s messy, I have anxiety, and I need help!” The Holy Spirit will lift you up. There is so much joy beyond the dismantling!
Truly Healing from Illness
With the Holy Spirit’s vision we begin to awaken from the dream and recognize that healing from illness happens on the level of the mind, where true healing can actually occur. “A Course in Miracles” teaches us that all illness is mental illness and health is inner peace. The deceived mind reacts to the images of the world as if they are real. The Holy Spirit has the job of convincing the mind that it is dreaming and that the illness is actually our fragmented perception and not in the world. The world we perceive is only our animated thoughts projected outward.
Does Spiritual Awakening Change Relationships?
Does spiritual awakening change relationships? As you move along a path of spiritual practice, what happens to interpersonal relationships? Another way to ask these questions is: Do you think in terms of persons and bodies? As your perception shifts, you get to a turning point where you see that you can let go of everything you believe is true. The scariest thing for the ego is for us to start opening up to the Spiritual Vision of Christ which takes us past the body and interpersonal relationships entirely. The Holy Spirit is taking us to a whole different perception of everything and everyone that we perceive; a way of opening to a deep intimacy to feel that deep Love that we’ve always known is there, a Love that includes everyone.
