The Truth about Your Relationships — There is a strong belief in the mind that this world is real and that people are real. In fact, the truth about your relationships is that they are all a projection of thoughts. Once we can see this we can start to forgive the images that we see. Our aim becomes to see with Christ’s Vision, to see the light in everything we come across. We want to see that everything is love and is wanting to show us our true Christ identity.
Roles
ACIM and Raising Children
Every symbol and image that you see with the body’s eyes is a reflection. When you look at a child, you can see the child as a mirror of your mind. Any grievances and limits you see in the child are within your own mind. If you are practicing ACIM and raising children, you see what is taking place in your thoughts. As children go through grade school and into high school, you can look at your own beliefs about authority, normalcy, education and success.
Your Transcendent Life
The mind has become the slave of the body, doing meaningless things. You are a transcendent being. Use the body as a miracle worker for the glory of God, as a blessing for the whole universe. You are headed for joy and peace! In this illusion, the body has become the end—pleasure, comfort, and convenience are all for the body. In the Kingdom of Heaven, minds don’t work to give the body a life because there is no body to have a life. Everything is reversed here. Here, mind seems private and separate and has its own private thoughts and that it has to work out life.
No Compromise
David shares the practical application of the teachings from Enlightened Mind in this session. When you are healed you are not healed alone. Examples and parables are used to convey the central teaching of forgiveness and other A Course in Miracles ideas.
Exploring Concepts Such as Religion
David defines Christ as love and then says Christianity is a defense against Christ/love. In essence he says this is true of all religions. The ego has taken something in form (e.g., Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed) and then turned it into a religion. David then reinterprets the word “religion” to mean a peaceful state of mind. David does not view himself as belonging to any formal religion but instead part of a religion of oneness and truth.
Following the Holy Spirit and Relationships
David explains how listening to and following the Holy Spirit brings peace and joy, as old relationships seem to be let go and new relationships that serve the Holy Spirit’s purpose come into awareness. Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that the only right use of judgment is asking yourself, “How do I feel?” If you start to get prompted to call certain people, and after the call you feel a certain vitality, then it shows the prompt came from the Holy Spirit. You listened, followed, and got the experience. If you find yourself being depressed, feeling fatigued or dispirited, and saying, “Wow, I’m glad I got that over with.” Then the prompts are coming in from guilt. All these relationships have guilt in them. Now the Holy Spirit is saying, the way out of the guilt is giving all the relationships to the Holy Spirit.
Letting Go of the Illusion
As in the movies, we forget the world is a dream. The illusion seems so real. It was made so we would forget who we are. From our little role our problems seem magnified. But we are called into a purpose, a function that will take us through a washing of our mind that takes us into a more surreal state. We let go of our conditioning and gain a fresh, new perspective on the “set.” We get into a rhythm of bringing our false thoughts up and out. Then, instead of defending, we experience peace of mind. When we have a charge, the way out is to question it. Reflect on it; notice your contraction. It has no cause; you can just let it go. You don’t have to think like that anymore.
Steps towards the Atonement
The Holy Spirit knows what the untrained mind believes in. While one believes he is in a body in a world and dealing with differing situations, there seem to be steps towards the Atonement. The Holy Spirit knows exactly what steps need to be taken to uncover the truth of who we are. As we learn to hear this guidance and follow these steps we will be shown the way.
Rules for Decision
David Hoffmeister A Course in Miracles inspired teacher, explores the rules for decision that Jesus offers. Use the simple practice that Jesus outlines in the course in order to experience peace and happiness. It can seem that you have many decisions to make each day; many questions that pop up in your daily experience. Jesus describes simple steps to take when you experience these moments. When you call on the experience for divine Love, the questions start to disappear!
What Is Meditation and ACIM
In this clip, David Hoffmeister has been asked about meditation. He says that “A Course in Miracles” is a pathway to meditation. The Course is designed to remove any obstacles to peace that are in the mind. This leads perfectly into being able to meditate without the “monkey mind” and all its distractions. The latter part of this talk introduces the idea of living from inspiration and not doing things merely from a sense of obligation. Here, true peace and freedom is found. “What is meditation?” is a question many people ask. This video answers the questions: “How do I meditate?” and “How can I get into a state of relaxation through meditating using the ‘A Course in Miracles’ Workbook?” Being in a state of mindfulness deepens the meditative state and gives a sense of stress relief.
