Are you holding on to the belief in sacrifice? The ego-mind believes that sacrifice is possible. When you practice having the awareness that everything is mind, this belief in sacrifice comes up into question. How could sacrifice be real, if everything is mind? This questioning is an opportunity for a resurrection in the mind! Holding on to a belief is what gives seeming life to an identity that is separate from the Love of God. Therefore your true identity seems covered over by this belief, much like a cloud covers the sun.
Rituals
Desire of Your Heart
Why hold on to a little autonomous role, even that of being a spiritual person? Nothing repetitive, no spiritual ritual, will take you to the holy instant. Only the desire of your heart will take you home. You can have a spontaneous Awakening just from following your intuition. What Jesus is saying in A Course in Miracles can be paraphrased as, “You can see this world without any help. But you need help to see another world. You need help to have spiritual vision. You need a lot of help to come back to remember who you are as the Christ. Yet you can see this world without help.”
No Compromise
David shares the practical application of the teachings from Enlightened Mind in this session. When you are healed you are not healed alone. Examples and parables are used to convey the central teaching of forgiveness and other A Course in Miracles ideas.
Commercialization of Holiness
Kalani Retreat 2010. David goes into how the ego distorts the symbols of holiness.
Exploring Concepts Such as Religion
David defines Christ as love and then says Christianity is a defense against Christ/love. In essence he says this is true of all religions. The ego has taken something in form (e.g., Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed) and then turned it into a religion. David then reinterprets the word “religion” to mean a peaceful state of mind. David does not view himself as belonging to any formal religion but instead part of a religion of oneness and truth.
Reduce Stress and Worry, Grace vs. Control
We want to experience peace. We want to reduce stress and worry in our lives. But how? In this clip, David Hoffmeister shares on letting go of the illusion of control and sinking into divine Grace. The ego seeks to demonstrate that it is the author of itself by working, planning, and controlling as many “personal” aspects of life as possible. But doing each “must” and “have to” is highly stressful. The alternative to attempting to control things is to relax into divine Grace.
Oneness Is Practical
Spirituality is not about high ideals. You want an actual experience of peace and that is extremely practical. The Spirit meets you where you believe you are. Love waits on welcome, not on time. How welcoming are you to Spirit’s guidance? When you start to clear your mind of all your fears, doubts, and dualistic thinking, and you need an answer, it will come through you like a download from the Spirit. But you have to follow the guidance. You have to allow yourself to be unwound by the Spirit out of the matrix. Can you see how practical that is? You are being taught to start opening to the Spirit’s guidance to unwind your mind back to Oneness.
New Perspective: Reverse Your Thought System
Have you been asking for a new perspective, a new way to see situations and people in your life? David Hoffmeister shares that you are addicted to a thought system and at any moment you can choose to ween yourself off of it. This points you in a whole new direction! We are addicted to judgment, the ego device that perpetuates the illusion of linear time. To heal this addiction to judgment we need the holy instant and our mighty companions.
