A Course in Miracles is meant to be used to help you get in touch with the Holy Spirit so that the Spirit can help undo your belief in specifics. ACIM is not meant to be used as an intellectual understanding to metaphysically gloss over specific problems that are still believed in.
Mystics and Saints
What if you do entertain the notion of enlightenment? Some symbols and stories are about the possibility that you will become enlightened in a different Earth lifetime, and that it isn’t possible in this one. But deep down, there is a feeling that anything is possible. What if you entertain the notion of the Holy Instant as spoken about in “A Course in Miracles?”
The direct experience of God, or revelation, is rare within the world of time and space; even Mother Teresa revealed she only experienced 7 or 8 months of consistent, direct experience with God. “A Course in Miracles” states that, “If God were reached directly in sustained awareness, the body would not be long maintained.” (M-26.3:8) You can however attain a state of consistent happiness and peace through practicing to the fullest. Parables of Helen Schucman, Bill Thetford, and David Hoffmeister’s life show that it only takes 1% principle, but 99% practice! Let your pathway to Awakening find you and follow it all the way through!
Jesus taught us a simple way of knowing who to trust and follow: “You will know them by their fruits.” Some fruits of the Spirit would be: consistent peace and happiness, transparency, and a true generosity that gives freely of the heart. One’s attitude is the greatest demonstration, and it is important that one doesn’t just “talk the talk” but also “walks the walk.” We all have the truth within us, and so by tuning into our feelings, we will be Guided as to who or what to follow, moment by moment.
True love is going beyond any form of this world. Earthly love always has an object: “I love (something).” When we try to look for love in form, such as in interpersonal relationships, our expectations are never met. The lack we feel from the thought of being separated from our Creator can never be replaced by any worldly relationship. True love has no object; it has a continuity that wants to just radiate through us and extend. The devotion of mystics and saints comes from the desire to connect with the source and then radiate that connection to everyone and everything.
David Hoffmeister, “A Course in Miracles” teacher, shares on true union and relationships. What is the purpose of a marriage? Is it being used by ego or Holy Spirit? The ego uses marriage to hold fast to separateness. Two bodies may be legally committed to each other, yet joining is not happening. True union happens at the level of the Christ mind. When you enter into a committed relationship you will find that a lot of mirroring happens!
“Salvation” is for the sleeping mind. God would not give us the means of Awakening without the assurance that the plan would succeed. And we don’t have to save the whales, or the forests, or the planet. No rituals or holy relics are needed; we are not into spiritualizing matter. In 1160, the Cathars were a Gnostic group who actually knew all these things. They taught the same principles that ACIM teaches. These symbols of transcendence keep repeating down through the corridors of time until we finally awaken to Truth.
Any upsetting thought is just a thin veil drawn over intense rage. Death is a decision. What happens to you, you have asked for. Atonement is accepting the correction that has already been given. Forgiveness is a life wish. The ego is a death wish. The prerequisite for accepting the correction is to see the death wish as in your mind. First you must understand that your problem is always a perceptual problem; you are seeing something that is not there. Once you admit this then you can accept the answer, the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The solution is never a choice in this world; nothing in the world needs to be saved; only the mind can be salvaged. Face your darkness, your belief in lack. You are worthy of moving through it to perfect happiness. God’s plan for you cannot fail. The world is escaped through life.
Tired of living in this world of change, decay, and fear? The master switch is in your mind. The entire cosmos is an illusion, and the way that you don’t admit that to yourself is by making levels in the illusion. “A Course in Miracles” quotes, “there is no hierarchy in illusions.” (T-23.II.2:3) This world is made up of levels, degrees, increments, and gradations. You can call these levels judgments and you can call them preferences. Do you order everything in your world? All of the things that you perceive as differences are really the same. You are invited to join Jesus in the deep pool of unified awareness.
