David answers questions about pain and pleasure. He shares that every desire of this world is a distorted impulse for the experience of our connection with God.
Miracle Impulses
Is Sex Wrong?
Is sex wrong? Distorted miracle impulses like sexuality are seen through the ego’s prism of lack. The ego is always judging: is this wrong or right? Good or bad? Moral or immoral? But no sexuality is condemned. Jesus is not concerned with morality and ethical beliefs, which vary widely between cultures. Allow the Holy Spirit to reach you where you are concerning sexuality. It is highly individualized.
Indulgence and Repression
Let’s move beyond the two extremes of indulgence and repression. Is there another way? David Hoffmeister, “A Course in Miracles” teacher, discusses the practical way of exposing and releasing the thoughts that surface in awareness as the mind undergoes the forgiveness process. Helena offers her practical experience and examples and David illustrates the metaphysics and the forgiveness process with practical metaphors.
Craving Sex and Food
In this video, David Hoffmeister talks about sexuality and hunger. In Heaven, in Oneness, there are no needs. But in the world, sexuality and hunger appear to be basic human needs. There can seem to be problems sexual or food cravings. They are on the continuum of preferences, and preferences are judgments. The trick is that the ego makes hierarchies of these illusions even though they are really all the same. The Holy Spirit knows there are ego preferences. When you give yourself over to Him, He will use your preferences to unwind them all.
