What’s the correct use of the body? What is it for? David Hoffmeister explains the practical application of “A Course in Miracles” by sharing a story about a friend who hypnotized herself to not see her body, and yet still had guilt to expose and release before experiencing the neutrality of the body and the disappearance of the universe. After this story and healing lesson, David shares the experience of the whole mind or forgiven dream in which there are no “parts” or judgments present.
Mind
Linear World: Real World
In “A Course in Miracles,” the “real world” is synonymous with the happy dream, the forgiven world, and true perception. Everything is seen as simultaneous, equal, connected, and unified in the moment. What is deemed as valuable in the linear world (money, education, status, credentials, the body’s health, etc.) is seen as of no value in the real world. Seeing this, the mind can rest. It is clear that nothing valuable can truly be left behind. What you are and what God is alone has value and is eternal.
Look within Always
There is no inside/outside and in the end, there is no projection. Projection is the idea of trying to get rid of something while still keeping it. The Holy Spirit uses contrast experiences to lead us to the recognition that we want nothing but Love. Through the purification process we begin to see everything as a miracle.
Freedom from Linear Time (Part 2)
What would happen to future goals and ambitions if you realized that the future is actually the past? As “A Course in Miracles” teaches, “This world was over long ago.” (T-28.I.1:6) When psychics read the future, they are actually reading the past because the future is past as well. As long as the mind is holding on to linear time, the prayer of the heart cannot be completely answered. But when we realize that the peace of God is all we want, all future desires are washed away, leaving the mind perfectly content in the present moment!
Ideas Leave Not Their Source
There is no world apart from thought. Everything is Mind. There is no world apart from what you think. Ultimately, there is no world. But until we have a consistent experience of that fact, we need to look at all that is not that. We’re not asked to look at these blocks alone, but with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit’s perspective is that this world and all its happenings are the past. The more we join in this state of mind, the more the Healed Mind is reflected.
Release and the Body
In “A Course in Miracles,” Jesus tells us, “you will recognize you practiced well by this: The body should not feel at all.” (W-136.17:2) The world and the body are merely symbolic representations in the mind of the perceiver, figments of the imagination which do not have feelings in and of themselves. There is no causation in form because everything comes from the mind, which TELLS the body what to feel. As a miracle worker, keep opening up to this ultimate principle while ALSO allowing the Holy Spirit to use the symbols of the world for the purpose of undoing the guilt associated with them.
Levels of Mind
David Hoffmeister describes the levels of the mind given to him by the Spirit for help in the practical application of forgiveness.
How to See You’re Living in a Dream
Everything that you see in this world is a motion picture of our mind. If you believe you are alive on this planet, you’re living in a dream. Everything you see in this world is part of the matrix, the dream. If we want to know the truth about ourselves, we need to go within. Like Neo in the movie, “The Matrix,” we sense that something is not quite right with the world and we want to know the truth.
Mind Body
It’s all mind! Your body is an image in a dream. You are an abstract idea in the Mind of God. The ego thinks it is a body and doesn’t understand abstraction. Within this dream of bodies and separation, you might think that you live in your body. You’re in the habit of thinking that you operate within a body, just like a driver in a car: you see through a body’s eyes and hear through a body’s ears. But perception does not depend on the body.
Holy Spirit’s Purpose for Relationships
David Hoffmeister explores the topic of special and holy relationships. The purpose is key in understanding the difference between the ego’s purpose and the Holy Spirit’s purpose for relationships, things, events, and encounters. Consistently aligning with this purpose of forgiveness takes mind training. When we are living in purpose, we simply accept what is given. The script is written, so we can let go, and allow ourselves to be gently carried down a river of love.
