Spirit has only one purpose: to extract you from the you that you believe you are in this world and take you back into the light and wholeness that is all there is and all that has ever been. The extraction process is highly individualized but is always a cleansing of the mind, a rinse that washes away all that is not of God. Let’s join in the “tractor beam of love!”
Marriage
What’s Under the Twinkie?
Is there a way to be free from food issues? David Hoffmeister teaches that through working with “A Course in Miracles,” he gave over all things he thought he knew to Spirit. He was told by Jesus, “eat whatever is served,” and through many experiences he was loosened from all past conditioning about food. With all the past conditioning in the mind around food, nutrition, health, and body image, decision-making in this area can seem quite difficult and fraught with guilt.
Expectations in Relationships
Expectations in relationships can block us from the truth. Relationships mirror your consciousness; they are based on desire and future expectations. When these expectations, such as the desire for companionship, are not met, we feel discomfort. The journey to peace is a journey into consciousness in which layers of expectations and beliefs are uncovered and exposed. As we feel, and look closely at, our discomfort, we can come to see that guilt runs deep beneath it. The way to find completion is to find and follow your inner calling.
Reading Meaning into Form
Reading meaning into form can be a huge block to love’s presence. The second lesson in “A Course in Miracles” is, “I have given everything I see all the meaning it has for me.” (W-2) The ego reads different meanings into everything and judges certain things as good or worthy and others as bad or unworthy. To the Holy Spirit all things are the same because they’re all used for the same purpose: forgiveness! Jesus teaches us that everything is of the mind. By tracing our perception of the world back into the beliefs we hold about it, we can see that we’ve got it all backwards and we really don’t know what anything is for without the Holy Spirit’s vision.
From Linear Time to Divine Providence
Time and space are not absolute, but subjective and relative, two aspects of the same projected error which can only be transcended in the Holy Instant. Until this point of transcendence, the spiritual journey can seem disorienting and tumultuous. Its end is inevitable though, for we are destined to remember our true identity as the Christ, at one with God and all of Creation. Jesus is continually calling us out of the thinking of the world in order to join him in this experience, and when we align our mind with his, we literally need take thought for nothing. Everything else—the housing, the food, the finances, the relationships—will all be handled in our devotion to his one purpose and plan. Thus is the experience of Divine Providence.
Communal Relationships
Using “A Course in Miracles” in relationships as a mind training program dissolves the unconscious mind. Ultimately, one is left with a complete awareness of what is in the mind and how to forgive what opposes Peace. When “A Course in Miracles” is practiced in a community setting, there is a great speed-up in this unconscious dissolving. To have a relationship in community coupled with the openness of communal living is a recipe for a lightning-fast directness. Happy Awakening!
To Know Thyself You Need to Forgive
To know thyself as an eternal being, you must practice forgiveness. This video follows a discussion on the purpose of marriage. David Hoffmeister goes into depth on the discipline of practicing forgiveness. David shares that the Holy Spirit has given you all of the forms in your classroom and now you must decide to use them for the purpose of going beyond this world. Is a spouse the form you’ve been given? Let this form take you into the awareness of your eternal self.
“As If” the Separation Occurred
The world is based on hypothetical possibilities. The mind is described “as if” it has two parts. An event on the timeline has to be an “as if.” As if it will, or could possibly, occur; as if the separation occurred. The whole teaching of ACIM is that the Atonement is a complete escape from the past and a complete lack of interest in the future. This zooms us into an experience. The only thing that makes anything helpful is zoomed into by asking one question, “What is the purpose?” This is an age-old question. And the answer is: it is for Love, for Joy. It is a celebration of divine Innocence.
Relationship, Marriage, and True Union (Part 1)
David Hoffmeister, “A Course in Miracles” teacher, shares on true union and relationships. What is the purpose of a marriage? Is it being used by ego or Holy Spirit? The ego uses marriage to hold fast to separateness. Two bodies may be legally committed to each other, yet joining is not happening. True union happens at the level of the Christ mind. When you enter into a committed relationship you will find that a lot of mirroring happens!
Having and Being
The word “having” is used very strangely on this planet, as a synonym for what you believe you possess. To the Spirit however, having is equated with being. What you have is what you are which is the Self as God created you. Therefore, you are in need of nothing. Love does not possess and Love is who we are. It is our identity, not something we possess, and this confusion is the central issue. Possessing involves “thing-ness” and a belief in parts. This belief in parts, and the possession of the parts, blocks the awareness of Love.
