In “A Course in Miracles,” Jesus tells us, “you will recognize you practiced well by this: The body should not feel at all.” (W-136.17:2) The world and the body are merely symbolic representations in the mind of the perceiver, figments of the imagination which do not have feelings in and of themselves. There is no causation in form because everything comes from the mind, which TELLS the body what to feel. As a miracle worker, keep opening up to this ultimate principle while ALSO allowing the Holy Spirit to use the symbols of the world for the purpose of undoing the guilt associated with them.
Spirituality is not about high ideals. You want an actual experience of peace and that is extremely practical. The Spirit meets you where you believe you are. Love waits on welcome, not on time. How welcoming are you to Spirit’s guidance? When you start to clear your mind of all your fears, doubts, and dualistic thinking, and you need an answer, it will come through you like a download from the Spirit. But you have to follow the guidance. You have to allow yourself to be unwound by the Spirit out of the matrix. Can you see how practical that is? You are being taught to start opening to the Spirit’s guidance to unwind your mind back to Oneness.
How did Jesus not suffer? To the ego, it looked as if Jesus was suffering on the cross with nails in his hands and feet. Why do we see this event as suffering? Because the ego made up suffering. And, when we see suffering, we are looking with the ego. It made up the appearance of the body, the nails, and the cross. It made up an innocent lamb and the judgment cast upon it. Yet these are all mere concepts, mere duality. The mind that has been healed of all concepts rests in a freed perspective, or state of Christ.
The only thing that can be changed is the mind. Jesus teaches us in “A Course in Miracles” Workbook Lesson 7, “I see only the past.” (W-7) The world is a projection from wrong-minded perception that has already past. It’s like watching a film that’s “in the can,” so talking back to the movie screen is ridiculous because what you are speaking to are merely shadows. You can always have a change of mind, a state of peace, and an alignment with the Holy Spirit. Letting the Holy Spirit manage your mind will take you into divine providence!
David answers a question from the audience on feeling arrogant when starting to let the Holy Spirit speak through as a miracle worker. David shares his early experiences of letting the Holy Spirit pour through him, and how the ego would lash out on his drive home from Course groups. The ego is extremely threatened by the Spirit because consistent miracle working is the end of the ego.
You cannot wake yourself, but you can allow yourself to be spiritually awakened. Resign now as your own teacher and call for Spirit’s help. Be “taught through,” by demonstrating a forgiving attitude. Desire the peace of mind that you deserve. You may encounter ego backlash. Don’t analyze the darkness; say “oops” and hand it over to the Holy Spirit.
As you watch your thoughts and judgments, you can feel small. It is freeing to realize that you are not the thinker of those thoughts. This realization frees you from identification with your thoughts. Your mind is full of impostor thoughts trying to convince you that you are not really you. Your real thoughts are those you think with God.
Simple healing! “A Course in Miracles” is an answer to the mind that is asking for healing. It is very direct. Jesus says the same thing repeatedly and in many different ways. The world is a hallucination, but that’s not even the problem! The problem isn’t the world. The problem is your mistaken perception of the world. You can see the world in a new way with the Holy Spirit. ACIM daily lessons are the laboratory in which your healing work will take place. The Holy Spirit will give you everything you need for your healing. Carry your lesson like a torch through the day, knowing that every thing that comes into your awareness will help you in your Awakening. There may seem to be millions of complex problems with many accompanying decisions, but the only choice is in your mind. It is the choice between reality and unreality coming to you in many disguises.
David Hoffmeister explores the topic of special and holy relationships. The purpose is key in understanding the difference between the ego’s purpose and the Holy Spirit’s purpose for relationships, things, events, and encounters. Consistently aligning with this purpose of forgiveness takes mind training. When we are living in purpose, we simply accept what is given. The script is written, so we can let go, and allow ourselves to be gently carried down a river of love.
By allowing the shadow, or egoic defense mechanisms, to arise in awareness, we have a quick inroad to where true healing can begin. Through our uncompromising focus on what is arising in awareness, the Holy Spirit can use what we give Him, no matter how counterintuitive it feels.
