When your reactions come from a mistaken self-concept, they are like blind reactions. Ultimately, the self-concept has to be questioned. In this video, David Hoffmeister talks about one of the more puzzling “A Course in Miracles” quotes, “Recognize what does not matter, and if your brothers ask you for something ‘outrageous,’ do it because it does not matter.” (T-12.III.4:1) What does Jesus mean by this? Does it mean that if your brother asks you to something outrageous like rob a bank with him, you should say “sure!” and go for it?
David Hoffmeister gives both a parable of forgiveness along with the metaphysics underneath the parable. “A Course in Miracles” ideas and applications are what living a life of joy is all about, and David serves as a living demonstration of Course principles in action. It is a peaceful state of Mind.
“No private thoughts” is one of the guidelines of the Messengers of Peace. This clip from a retreat at the Living Miracles Monastery gives the metaphysics underneath this and how there literally are no private thoughts. The metaphysical understanding of ACIM is necessary as a prerequisite to understanding the metaphysics of “no private thoughts.” ACIM uses an educational approach to teach the mind the spiritual metaphysics and the metaphysical definitions that are needed to train the mind to awaken to reality. All of this will be transcended when the meaning of metaphysics is fully grasped and the experience that the metaphysics is pointing to is experienced.
David Hoffmeister shares his ideas on a range of topics at the Swedish Peace House near Hoor, Sweden. David Hoffmeister has visited Sweden several times since 2006. In 2008, a non-profit Awakening Mind branch was established in southern Sweden to help bring David back to Sweden and Europe and to help distribute his teaching resources and materials in Europe. The ideas are based on the living experience of the principles of “A Course in Miracles.”
The guidance of the Holy Spirit is always beneficial to everyone. Assignments are teaching-learning opportunities. The whole point of the mind training is to let go of everything you think you know about form and come into an experience of the content of love in your heart. The more you are concerned about content the less you are concerned with the form. The ego set up very rigid roles. The concepts and illusions need to be brought to the light, and the purpose of assignments is to come into more expansive states of mind and broader self-concepts that approach forgiveness.
You have only one true Source. As you approach the healing of the mind, you are doing a service to the whole of mankind. Your family of origin may have been a strong focus before, but now your focus “softens” or widens and begins to take on universal proportions. God did not create this world; it is a world of idolatry. We have “idolized” concepts such as romantic love and traditional family values. Don’t worry about the biblical “golden calf.” Far greater idols are concepts like “mom” and “dad.”
Icons, images, and identities such as Jesus and Buddha are held very personally in the separated mind. Even these universal metaphors need to be released from the limited ways in which we think of them so that we are not offended by another’s identifications, pictures, or associations with them. Have you ever felt embarrassed about discussing Jesus in public? Have you ever felt afraid to curse, as if you might upset an anthropomorphous god?
Hold no graven images before the Lord. Spirit has already handled these images. Salvation is already accomplished. But when we try to string the images together and put them on a timeline—that is when we make idols. We compare ourselves to other persons or we compare our present experience to a “better experience” we think we’ve had in the past, or to a long-gone mystical experience we wish to get back. Give these idols over to Spirit and let your mind be rinsed in a “Jesus Christ rinse-cycle.”

The world is an outward picture of an inward condition. The world is a projection of trying to hold on to both love and fear. Everything emanates from consciousness. While we believe in the world we will seem to experience a world outside of ourselves. Perfect love casts out fear. If we come to find the peace in ourselves, the world we picture will be peace-full.
