Tilba, Australia Day 2
There was no fall. God does not punish, test, or judge. He does not watch from a distance. He extends unconditional love and welcome. God is not concerned with what you do or don’t do. There is no sacrifice or asceticism. It is not about bringing the light into the darkness or saving the world. It is about mind training, love, and being inspired by Spirit.
This talk elaborates on the metaphysics and trust required to escape from the dream of separation. This discussion followed a showing of the movie “The Island” and deals with topics such as the nothingness of the body and the need to unveil and expose the core belief in the “reality” of the projected cosmos/world.
All objects are part of the self-concept. Jesus let the Holy Spirit give them back to him cleansed, all in one category: unreal. On the cross, he was no longer in the body; he did not see Judas as betraying him. The body (not the temple) will be rebuilt in three days. If you believe in unity and wholeness you see the real world. Although the body’s eyes report differences, Vision comes through the mind.
Here is a handy decision-making mechanism: how many decisions are based on fear of consequences? Imagine if love were your only motivator. Ask, “What am I doing this for?” The fear motive is the insatiable desire to get. Let God direct all your doing. The ego thinks you need to get the job, the wife/husband, the house, the kids, etc. Ask the Holy Spirit for the real purpose of this particular decision. Do you want freedom, intimacy, love, peace? Perhaps you think you have to do a lot of things to get them. Follow Spirit/intuition every instant instead. “A Course in Miracles” is like a sharp blade that burrows down into your mind, healing it.
Remove everything that is not truth. ACIM uses reason as synonymous with the Holy Spirit. The ego’s premises are false. Follow out the Holy Spirit’s premises to the truth. Learn to not put your faith in the laws of the world, the ego’s thought system. Put your faith in the Holy Spirit.
You save the world at the mind level. You accept the Atonement for yourself. You accept yourself as the Christ. Resurrection—healing—is of the mind. When you accept this goal, your life will change. Course metaphors are on different rungs of the ladder and, as our understanding grows, we let go off the metaphors on the lower rungs. Finally we outgrow all of them.
