“… seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world.” (ACIM,T-21.in.1:7) Explore one of the most talked-about A Course in Miracles quotes: “The script is written.”(W-158.4:3) You do not have control over the script, but you do have control over your state of mind. Healing is of the mind. You made everything that your perceive with the body’s five senses in order to imagine yourself separate from God. The mind is reminded of this through many A Course in Miracles quotes, including, “Everything you perceive as the outside world is merely your attempt to maintain your ego identification,” (T-12.III.7) and, “Do not believe it (the world) is outside of yourself.” (T-12.III.9)
What is “A Course in Miracles” (ACIM)? ACIM is a spiritual tool that comes from Jesus Christ. The Course is a practical pathway of forgiveness and love that uses the teachings of psychology, education, and Christianity. ACIM contains a Text that teaches the principles, a Workbook for practical application, and a Manual for Teachers, that we may become conduits for miracles. We need to remove our ego mask that covers our Christ Self.
The devil is causeless, therefore it doesn’t exist. The world was made by the ego mechanism. If you can’t heal what isn’t real, then there is nothing to heal. Only God is Cause, and Christ is the Effect, and both are united in Heaven. Instead of seeing as if there are seeming causes in world and trying to figure everything out on the screen, take them to the internal feelings, following them down into the inner domain.
If this is a dream, does that mean I have to take all responsibility for events in the world? Does “I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts” (W-54) mean I am responsible for an earthquake? The answer lies in “My Self is ruler of the universe.” (W-253) What we experience is what we desire. Giving and receiving are the same. The world is projected thought images. The world is not outside of mind. Our ego’s perception is fragmented and shows fragments, but they are all the same. Trust Spirit. With healed perception you see wholeness; you experience peace; you become a miracle worker.
The Holy Spirit has a great perspective and knows in every seeming circumstance what would be most helpful. David speaks about Helen Schucman’s experience with scribing “A Course in Miracles” and how she had a lot of resistance towards the Voice. The Holy Spirit cannot take your fear away because it would be interfering with the most basic laws of cause and effect, trying to step between your thoughts and their effects. It is an inside job and you can use the guidance to see the conditions that were set up in your mind, and really, you are not bound by these conditions. The Course is only a tool to bring you in contact with your internal teacher. The Holy Spirit is kind and gentle and will help undo concepts.
Our only function is forgiveness. To forgive the world we made, we need only expose and welcome the darkness when it comes instead of pushing it down. Then, accept and allow it no matter what it looks or feels like, without judging yourself. Finally, just hand it over to the Spirit and it is literally gone.
Is it necessary to process darkness in order to heal it? Healing is about exposure. Willingness to open up to the feelings and thoughts brings a huge step towards healing. There are signs and symbols everywhere that point to our willingness to open up and be healed. The mystery dissolves as we put the allowance into practice.
As long as you perceive symbols of love and hate, there is still a deception going on. These symbols are heavily endowed with meaning, and undoing them takes a lot of mind training. Any reactive experience to seeming outside influences is another opportunity to see something that is in need of healing. All things are neutral to the Holy Spirit.
