Movies are modern-day parables. Happy Feet is a story that gives us insights into finding the inner dance, forgiveness, and social commentary. Even though free falling out of old belief systems is a scary prospect, divine providence seems to slip in when we least expect it, and mighty companions show up to accompany us on the way.
David answers questions about replacing words in the Course that you can’t seem to relate to with words that resonate with you. For instance, if you have a hard time relating to a word such as guilt, you could use the word pain instead. ACIM is experiential and whatever is most helpful for you is appropriate.
Resistance can take many forms. Bill Thetford was afraid to teach because he thought it would weaken him. So, Jesus told him ideas are strengthened as they are given away. And Bill did learn to extend. The unworthiness blocks must be washed away. Helen carried guilt about ancient mistakes so Jesus helped her to see that the past never happened. We are worthy to have creativity flow through us.
Instead of focusing on the body, put your attention on joining, connecting. The ego-mind looks for problems to solve; the whole world is a mirror of this mind searching and exaggerating the problem instead of the solution (joining). A succession of personality identities will be revealed; even “teacher of God” or the “saint” are masks. We must keep unveiling until all is exposed and we have moved completely into the light. Always be authentic and guidance for the next step will be there.
To learn “A Course in Miracles,” you must question every value that you hold. At our Monastery we have two guidelines that help us do this: “No Private Thoughts,” and “No People-Pleasing.” Every day people expose their private thoughts at expression sessions.
David Hoffmeister talks about quantum physics, projection, sickness as mental, death as any upset, and concludes with an example of healing through the ideas of “A Course in Miracles.”
In order to awaken, we must accept our invulnerability as Spirit and make it manifest by the attitude that, in truth, we cannot be hurt. Unquestioned beliefs will always block this from awareness, controlling one’s decision-making process through fear and leading to a robot-like life. Therefore, one MUST begin to get in touch with all unconscious conditioning and learn to let it go with Spirit.
In “A Course in Miracles,” Jesus provides 365 Workbook lessons for mind training. Each lesson contains a specific thought to be used as instructed throughout the day. The ACIM daily lessons are replacement ideas for your ordinary, everyday, repetitive thoughts. Your thinking is generally stuck in the past or future. Disturbances can be approached differently through practical application of ACIM principles. As you advance in your mind training, you begin to use “The Rules for Decision” that Jesus presents in the Course (T-30.I) as a way of re-interpreting everyday occurrences.
You can’t grasp “The script is written” (W-158.4:3) until the end of the ride. The ego has tricked you into believing in linear time to keep the mind guilty. ACIM daily lessons are designed to help you see that everything is in the past. Everything is the same. There is no hierarchy. You see only the past which is a false construct of repeating patterns. When you are ready and willing, you will experience simultaneity and abstract oneness.
