The doer is the personal self and this self wants everything to be under conscious control. A Course in Miracles teaches us that, “Miracles are habits, and should be involuntary. They should not be under conscious control.” (ACIM, T-1.I.5:1-2.) There is no formula on how to undo the doer, it has to be under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. You cannot take personal responsibility for the seeming journey. You cannot as a person direct the undoing because the person IS the doer! Listening and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the practical application of the ACIM Workbook Lessons leads to experiences of peace and happiness, and that’s where the undoing of the doer occurs.
Forgiveness
I Feel Betrayed
What can you do when you feel betrayed? The game of guilt, rage, and blame has gone on long enough! It’s time to end it. For David Hoffmeister, “A Course in Miracles” mind training helped him to see anger in a new way. David shares that in his own life, his biological father seemed to have a great deal of anger. He was able to really look at his perception of another body’s rage. It wasn’t anger directed at him. He saw that everyone in the world is doing the best that they can do within their belief system. Each body is just acting out a belief system; acting out a role as if it’s an identity.
What Is the Ego Belief System?
This world was made to reinforce guilt; its only useful purpose is forgiveness. We want to remove the obstacles to the awareness of Love’s presence. The popular acronym for ego is “edging God out.” More exactly, the ego is a death wish, it is the belief that there is no God, it is the belief that Love is impossible, and it is the belief in separation. Some people ask, “What is the point of the ego?” The only answer is the ego doesn’t have a point. In fact, being an illusion is being unreal. Reality is the point. The ego is a denial of Reality.
What Is A Course in Miracles
What is “A Course in Miracles” (ACIM)? ACIM is a spiritual tool that comes from Jesus Christ. The Course is a practical pathway of forgiveness and love that uses the teachings of psychology, education, and Christianity. ACIM contains a Text that teaches the principles, a Workbook for practical application, and a Manual for Teachers, that we may become conduits for miracles. We need to remove our ego mask that covers our Christ Self.
The Happy Dream
The happy dream is a dream of non-judgment. People organize their lives based on false belief systems. Forgiveness is a belief system that swallows all of them up. When you experience forgiveness, you experience that all specific beliefs are completely untrue and so you are in a state of complete open-mindedness and acceptance. It is no longer possible to get into an argument because there are zero differences, zero opinions. Everything is you, now, in peace and joy. The perceptual dream is purified and that is the only dream there is.
Fearlessness
Spirit dissolves away our fear of consequences, leaving us free, spontaneous, and happy.
Service
There is a high burnout rate in the field of Social Service because it is often mixed with the ego. Don’t serve because you think there is a need. Release misperceptions from your mind. See your brothers’ wholeness and completeness. When you are in divine service you are inspired. David said “yes” to Spirit and was in joy in his world travels. If you are happy, the whole world is too. All service is Self service.
Saying “No”
“No” is an absolutely essential word in the vocabulary of the Holy Spirit. It is not helpful to get into bargaining in relationships, constantly compromising, people-pleasing in order to be liked. This reinforces the idea of “my way” and “your way.” When you tune in to guidance and prompts you can confidently say “no.” No’s from the Holy Spirit are firm no’s: “No, but thank you for asking.”
Divine Mind
The cosmos has kept us mindless, yet we are abstract Mind. Go into your divine Mind. Pain is a misperception. Be mindful. Face what you’re feeling and the belief underneath it; question it and forgive it.
Becoming a Happy Learner
Healing can be fun! One purpose of these gatherings is to come together and share what works in order to save time for everyone. Our ultimate purpose is to awaken in God’s Presence as One, and the journey need not be difficult. As “A Course in Miracles” teaches us, we can become “happy learners” and allow the Holy Spirit to work with our mind in a way that gently turns our perception from upside-down thinking (ego-aligned) to right-side up (Spirit-aligned). All topics and questions aimed at this glorious goal are welcomed and encouraged!
