What do I value in my life? I want a measurement for how to tell if something has value for me on this spiritual journey. If it doesn’t have value, why would I want it? “A Course in Miracles” gives you the measurement, beautifully and clearly spelled out: “If you choose a thing that will not last forever, what you choose is valueless.” (ACIM, W-133.6.) Through “A Course in Miracles” daily lessons, the awakening mind is trained to set aside the ego’s goals, and choose instead with Spirit. The confused mind is trained to think with the Holy Spirit. This is a change in direction towards peace and away from fear.
Eternity
Non-Dualism and Time
Love is all there is, with no opposites. God is one and extends perfect oneness as Spirit. The present moment is the closest approximation to eternity this world offers. People’s dualistic thoughts, feeling guilty about the past, and fearing the future are covering over eternity. So, we let go of them in favor of an experience of the heart.
Becoming God-Dependent
Is there a danger in becoming too God-dependent? There is a seeming danger of becoming dependent on a concept of God. To be truly God dependent is just to be dependent on the present moment. The present moment is our gateway back to eternity.
Is Happiness a Worthy Goal?
Happiness is a worthy goal, but not for the future; for you deserve to be happy (free) now. The present moment is the closest approximation of eternity. The ego just loves to worry about the future. “Buy gold now and save yourself,” it says. But what about the “Real Estate” of the present?
The Ego World and God
Beliefs only arose with the separation and hence are of the domain of the ego. God doesn’t know of this world because it doesn’t exist. But forgiveness is inspired by God and is the only way out.
One True Source
You have only one true Source. As you approach the healing of the mind, you are doing a service to the whole of mankind. Your family of origin may have been a strong focus before, but now your focus “softens” or widens and begins to take on universal proportions. God did not create this world; it is a world of idolatry. We have “idolized” concepts such as romantic love and traditional family values. Don’t worry about the biblical “golden calf.” Far greater idols are concepts like “mom” and “dad.”
Freedom from Linear Time (Part 2)
What would happen to future goals and ambitions if you realized that the future is actually the past? As “A Course in Miracles” teaches, “This world was over long ago.” (T-28.I.1:6) When psychics read the future, they are actually reading the past because the future is past as well. As long as the mind is holding on to linear time, the prayer of the heart cannot be completely answered. But when we realize that the peace of God is all we want, all future desires are washed away, leaving the mind perfectly content in the present moment!
Freedom From Linear Time (Part 1)
The attachment to linear time is what produces the illusion of this entire cosmos and is what keeps us unaware of our Eternal Nature. Since our reality is Spirit, we will always feel like a fish out of water so long as we believe ourselves to be a human being in time. Just like a fish out of water, the human seems to flop around, shake a bit, and then die. But this unhappy dream is not real, and true freedom is ever available.
To Know Thyself You Need to Forgive
To know thyself as an eternal being, you must practice forgiveness. This video follows a discussion on the purpose of marriage. David Hoffmeister goes into depth on the discipline of practicing forgiveness. David shares that the Holy Spirit has given you all of the forms in your classroom and now you must decide to use them for the purpose of going beyond this world. Is a spouse the form you’ve been given? Let this form take you into the awareness of your eternal self.
Allowing the Shadow Up
By allowing the shadow, or egoic defense mechanisms, to arise in awareness, we have a quick inroad to where true healing can begin. Through our uncompromising focus on what is arising in awareness, the Holy Spirit can use what we give Him, no matter how counterintuitive it feels.
