What is forgiveness? Forgiveness is about overlooking the seeming problem entirely. The Holy Spirit doesn’t want us to try to figure out what the problem is, He wants us to release this belief in separation and overlook the problem entirely to the light of the Atonement. That is what the Holy Spirit’s function is, to overlook the error and see only the correction.

Give up Your Plan B
A plan B is anything we have in mind for our future happiness while ignoring the present moment. We are fighting ourselves with these distractive plan Bs. To be happy we need to trust the present Love of God, to trust it so much that we give up the plan Bs. In no situation do we know our own best interests. Yet we think we do. We tend to first decide what we want and then ask Spirit for direction. Instead, by deciding not to decide, we can open ourselves to let Spirit decide for us. In this way we come to experience that all real pleasure comes from doing God’s will.
The Practical Tools of Awakening
In this talk, David reveals the practical tools of Awakening and how they are used to help heal our mind. He shares about his journey as a devotee of Christ, desiring only to be the living Presence of Spirit and to go wherever called. As he immersed himself deeply in the teachings of “A Course in Miracles,” allowing his mind to become empty of personal beliefs and expectations, he came to a consistent state of unified perception, the true experience of the happy dream.
From CEO to Mystic
David Hoffmeister has a revealing conversation with two former Chief Executive Officers who left their careers to devote their lives to God. CEOs cannot become enlightened. Holding any role as an identity—mother, father, butcher, baker—keeps you in illusion. You can’t spiritualize a business. You can’t bring the truth to the illusion; you must bring the illusion to the truth.
Why Is Spirituality of Value in My Life?
What do I value in my life? I want a measurement for how to tell if something has value for me on this spiritual journey. If it doesn’t have value, why would I want it? “A Course in Miracles” gives you the measurement, beautifully and clearly spelled out: “If you choose a thing that will not last forever, what you choose is valueless.” (ACIM, W-133.6.) Through “A Course in Miracles” daily lessons, the awakening mind is trained to set aside the ego’s goals, and choose instead with Spirit. The confused mind is trained to think with the Holy Spirit. This is a change in direction towards peace and away from fear.
Divine Providence
Lesson 50 of A Course in Miracles: “I am sustained by the Love of God.” In that lesson, Jesus tells us that, “In this world, you believe you are sustained by everything but God.” By following the Holy Spirit’s prompts we begin to trust that we will be divinely provided for in every circumstance.
Motivation for Life
You can live from inspiration by becoming a miracle worker. Trust Spirit and everything needed to convey the message is provided. In the beginning the ego resists being let go. Then it feels very natural.
The Highest State of Mind: I Don’t Know
The beginner’s mind is the “I don’t know” mind. It’s a beautiful place to live. It’s a wonderful feeling to have no opinions; very freeing. One doesn’t feel dumb or credulous; just free. And everything that is needed in any situation is given without any vote from you at all.
I Will Step Back and Let Him Lead the Way
In response to a question about how to respond when there is apparent ego attack and resistance directed at oneself, David speaks about his experience learning that what is needed is to step back and let Holy Spirit lead the way, and surrendering to releasing all judgement of who needed help. The ego is like a steel screw wound into oak with a power screwdriver. Hammer, pliers, etc. will not work to get this screw out. It has to be unwound the way it went in. When you join your mind with the Holy Spirit, that screw will come out and Holy Spirit will gently guide how to unwind from obligations that have been set up by the ego. It may be slow to start with but the unwinding is certain. We all are sustained by the Love of God and have just forgotten it.
That’s Not Penguin!
Movies are modern-day parables. Happy Feet is a story that gives us insights into finding the inner dance, forgiveness, and social commentary. Even though free falling out of old belief systems is a scary prospect, divine providence seems to slip in when we least expect it, and mighty companions show up to accompany us on the way.
