How to Be a Mystic – Mystic David Hoffmeister talks about the importance of seeing what you value and whether it’s more important than remembering the Love of God. Becoming a mystic means valuing the Love of God above all else and releasing all worldly forms, desires, and expectations in order to live a simple life of mysticism.
Dismantling
ACIM and Raising Children
Every symbol and image that you see with the body’s eyes is a reflection. When you look at a child, you can see the child as a mirror of your mind. Any grievances and limits you see in the child are within your own mind. If you are practicing ACIM and raising children, you see what is taking place in your thoughts. As children go through grade school and into high school, you can look at your own beliefs about authority, normalcy, education and success.
Another Way of Seeing
Rather than emphasize the parts, we begin to think in terms of the whole. Because the Holy Spirit is in our mind, we can see expansively that it is all one.
Introductory Talk, Part 1
David welcomes a group at the start of a weekend retreat and gives an overview of the spiritual journey. Topics include: removing grievances, judgments, and attack thoughts from the mind and being grateful; placing faith in the Holy Spirit to find peace of mind; the nature of problems; stepping back and opening to guidance/intuition.
Forgiving Yourself
Forgiving yourself is releasing what you thought you did, exposing and letting go of all concepts of the self, and finally, accepting the Correction.
Not Having a Job
ACIM videos immerse the mind in a new perspective. In this video, David Hoffmeister speaks on the topic of not having a job. Is the human condition your only choice or is there something beyond the human condition? When the mind goes to sleep and forgets Oneness and Nirvana and Heaven, it seems to now be existing in a very limited condition—the human condition. Part of the human condition is to have needs and desires and wants.
Zero Ambition
We live in an ambition-based culture. In this culture, it might seem to that having ambition is a good thing, and that having zero ambition is a problem. Is that true? In this video, see that having zero ambition is a great way to live! David Hoffmeister laughs, saying that after ten years of attending university, he realized that he had to start unlearning! This is a point of seeing that you must move in reverse! “A Course in Miracles” is not a learning curriculum, rather an unlearning that is aimed at emptying the mind of the concepts which are integrated into this seeming reality.
The People Concept
The “people” concept fades pretty quickly. We laugh at the people/duality/linear time game because deep down we know it’s not real. Let it be dismantled. All memories are equally false. Let inspiration lead you.
Forgiveness Parables/Metaphysics
David Hoffmeister gives both a parable of forgiveness along with the metaphysics underneath the parable. “A Course in Miracles” ideas and applications are what living a life of joy is all about, and David serves as a living demonstration of Course principles in action. It is a peaceful state of Mind.
It’s Your Lesson
When confronted with difficult people and difficult situations, it is helpful to remember “It’s your lesson.” Part of the problem is situational thinking. You can never bring peace into situations. God is abstract love and light and does not create situations. Truth is Oneness and situations are the illusion. We need to hand everything over to the Spirit. These are not people, these are thoughts. If there seems to be a nagging thought in your mind that doesn’t seem to go away, it’s because you don’t want it to go away. There is a sick attraction to it.
