Violence is in the mind, not in the world. The ego belief system opposes oneness, opposes love, opposes God. The ego belief system is what is violent and abusive. Judgment is violent. Egoic perception is violent. Jesus gave us the two most helpful words in all of history: “Judge not.” Therefore, when you have a major upset and are perceiving violence in the world, the most helpful thing you can do for yourself is ask for help in perceiving differently. Only true forgiveness can heal the perception of violence.
Desire to Change the World
There is only one problem with self-help—the Self that we are doesn’t need any help. As we move towards the Atonement, we move increasingly to the awareness that we have been wrong about everything, and towards the realization that, “my mind holds only what I think with God.” Our purpose is not to create a utopia on earth, but only to open our minds to a state of deep love and gratitude for the One, our Creator. Many of us were taught that it’s not wise to become too happy, but Love invites us to be divinely and fully happy now.
What does it mean to be honest with yourself? If you think you are a person bound by time and space, then you haven’t been honest enough. Therefore, first things first: you need to turn towards getting truly honest, and never look back. Be honest with how you feel. You don’t have to try to avoid the emotions. You can have an attitude in your heart of, “Show me, guide me. Expose what I believe in.” What lies beneath your upset?
What thoughts and beliefs are running your life? Do you think you need to act a certain way and say the right things in order to be loved? Do you think something bad will happen if you actually follow your heart? These people-pleasing mechanisms can be released when their underlying beliefs and assumptions are held […]
David Hoffmeister has been teaching the principals found in ACIM for many years. He has been uncompromising in his practice of what the Course teaches. Because of his uncompromising approach, he is now a living demonstration of the Awakened Mind. As “A Course in Miracles” states: “You will learn this Course completely or not at all.” This series of videos recorded at the Kalani retreat center in Hawaii helps one to understand some of the steps required to awaken to the clear and beautiful state that the Course describes as the Christ Mind. Enjoy!
How did Jesus not suffer? To the ego, it looked as if Jesus was suffering on the cross with nails in his hands and feet. Why do we see this event as suffering? Because the ego made up suffering. And, when we see suffering, we are looking with the ego. It made up the appearance of the body, the nails, and the cross. It made up an innocent lamb and the judgment cast upon it. Yet these are all mere concepts, mere duality. The mind that has been healed of all concepts rests in a freed perspective, or state of Christ.
David Hoffmeister shares on modern mysticism and the miracle of changed perception. “A Course in Miracles” is a pointer towards non-dual awareness. Once you taste the stillness of the mystical, non-dual experience, everything changes. In this teaching, David Hoffmeister reminds us that ACIM guides us towards bringing illusions in to truth, not the other way around. You can’t bring spirit into your workplace; you can’t spiritualize your relationships. If you try to use ACIM to make a better planet, you will fail. Once we have that one non-dual moment, that experience of Oneness, then we begin to apply it without exception. It is an experience of mind. You realize that you are perfect just as you are now.
