David Hoffmeister clarifies the distinction between “error” and “sin.” Error is a mistake that is correctible, but sin is a belief that there is something dark and devious that is stronger than Love. This is a crazy idea! David shares how our only function is acceptance the correction—the grace is already there! So, how does one practically experience this truth? By giving one’s mind over to Spirit, we open to the joy of true service.
Consistent Experience
Choosing the Miracle
This is a clip from the May/June 2010 retreat at the Living Miracles Monastery on choosing the miracle, which is a happy, peaceful state of mind no matter what seems to be going on.
How Can I Know Which Teacher(s) to Follow?
Jesus taught us a simple way of knowing who to trust and follow: “You will know them by their fruits.” Some fruits of the Spirit would be: consistent peace and happiness, transparency, and a true generosity that gives freely of the heart. One’s attitude is the greatest demonstration, and it is important that one doesn’t just “talk the talk” but also “walks the walk.” We all have the truth within us, and so by tuning into our feelings, we will be Guided as to who or what to follow, moment by moment.
Let It Be Given
Letting go of control and letting everything be given by Spirit is a radical life change. It is as radical as learning to breath liquid oxygen. You will experience periods of disorientation and come out soaring. The Course prepares you for being miracle-minded, even helping you remove the special relationship. Every miracle reinforces the awareness that life is but a dream.
What of Worldly Joy
Worldly joy comes and worldly joy goes. The Holy Spirit utilizes all things the dreaming mind has made, including emotion. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit knows these states and emotions are not the complete peace of God, and so He reminds us not to get caught in the trap of chasing niceties. They will be given when needed and go again when their usefulness is complete.
Unlearning the World (Part 2)
When we free our minds up from being worried about cause in the world and trying to solve our seeming problems in form, our lives become like a fairy tale. The energy that was being used on worry is now available for focusing on the homing beacon, that which is calling us home. This state is very exciting.
How to Become Spiritually Strong
How do we become spiritually strong? David Hoffmeister shares on this topic. To grow implies a process, and a process seems to witness that we are not already that! Non-dual/ACIM teachings point to an experience of our true Identity. While we are identified with weakness and fear it is impossible to have the awareness of our spiritual strength. As the mind opens up to its true Identity, the “how to” is given. Everything that you perceive in this world, without exception, is a motion picture of your mind.
