The Holy Spirit has the job of convincing us that we are dreaming and that the body is not real. Very much like in the movie “Inception” where they used “kicks” to remind the characters they were dreaming, the Holy Spirit uses “kicks” of a sort to help shake us out of our sleep. And this is how healing of the mind, the only level of healing for which we should be concerned, occurs.
David Hoffmeister talks about the second part of his book, “Unwind Your Mind Back to God.” Unlearning the world is unlearning the concepts of the world: comfort, security, possessions, and convenience. Once we seek not to change the world, but rather to change our minds about the world, there is a flow, you are the flow. With Spirit, everything is helpful. Spirit is performing a major convincing job.
We must approach Truth through negation, not directly. We discover what it is not. Affirmations have their place but we must remove the obstacles to love’s presence. The ego uses the world to make “effects” to hide the Truth. But these effects have no real source and therefore they are not actual or real. Relationships can be fun with this purpose: uncovering the errors that hide our true nature. Hurray for everything that helps expose the ego in its deception! No private thoughts—can you dig it?
In this world, the ego uses the body for many many things. If you follow the ego, you will seem to get sick and die and have a pretty rough life. If it was a computer, the body would have the default settings of sickness and death. But, the Holy Spirit offers an alternative to the belief in death. The Holy Spirit has only one purpose for the body. The Holy Spirit uses the body as a communication device to expand your perception all the way to forgiveness. Workbook Lesson 139 of “A Course in Miracles” states, “You are yourself. There is no doubt of this. And yet you doubt it.” (W-139.5:5-7) What’s the world made of? Death and sorrow. Yet, when we believe there is good or bad in the world, this is what the underlying belief is. All who come to this world come for death and sorrow. That’s the definition of coming into the world. You can call it what you want: incarnation or arriving in a hologram. Joys are so fleeting they cannot be possessed or even grasped. There are all these compromised wordily ideas which say “as long as you are here you are not enlightened.”
Projection is the attempt to get rid of something you do not want, to see it acted out in someone else. Projection is the source of blame. Unfortunately, by projecting something, you make it real in your awareness, thus keeping it. The deceived mind projects the entire cosmos, which is a game of lies. Linear time is a projection of shadow images. The Workbook of “A Course in Miracles” teaches how projection works so that you can loosen from those false images. The images offer nothing that you want. Your interacting with them shows you’ve had a psychotic break with Heaven. It is tiring to seek for love and not find it. You will never be content except in the “I am” presence that you really are.
The Holy Spirit sees only two orders of thought: love or a call for love. You as a person cannot make this distinction. Yet, this distinction is the gateway back to eternal life. Therefore, this important distinction is the Holy Spirit’s job to make for you when you surrender your will for His. This sends the mind into a state of humbleness where the prayer to the Holy Spirit is “show me.” Ultimately, we do not follow people, we follow Spirit. David Hoffmeister is a living example of the teachings in “A Course in Miracles.” For those who are feeling the call to Awaken, David Hoffmeister offers pure inspiration! “A Course in Miracles” is a pointer towards non-dual awareness, Oneness.
With the Holy Spirit’s vision we begin to awaken from the dream and recognize that healing from illness happens on the level of the mind, where true healing can actually occur. “A Course in Miracles” teaches us that all illness is mental illness and health is inner peace. The deceived mind reacts to the images of the world as if they are real. The Holy Spirit has the job of convincing the mind that it is dreaming and that the illness is actually our fragmented perception and not in the world. The world we perceive is only our animated thoughts projected outward.
Explore the analogy of Plato’s cave. The Holy Spirit will work with your mind to loosen your trust in things of this world such as money, medicine, economics etc. To come to the last filter means to come to the realization that you are dreaming. This world has no power to hurt you. Ask yourself, am I dreaming? The awareness of dreaming is the function of God’s teachers.
