Our voices are a mechanism for us to teach what we would learn. We even draw forth characters and situations that reflect what’s going on inside of us. When we allow the Holy Spirit to use us as communication devices, the words we say are what we most need to hear.
David talks about the undoing of accepted beliefs such as the laws of nutrition, health, and sleep. As we unwind from long-held beliefs about what our needs are as humans, we begin to feel the inspiration of the Spirit and trust that all of our seeming needs are always met. We are free to live in the joy!
The Holy Spirit is a decision and the ego is a decision. One is a decision to forget who you are and the other is a decision to remember. This world was made by the ego as an attempt to keep them both active as if good and evil can coexist. It is better to see it as the mind vacillating back and forth between the two decisions. Decisions are continuous but they are not fully in awareness. For example, people are not usually aware that an illness is the result of a decision.
Health is inner peace. I can be hurt only by my own thoughts. “As I cleared my mind of fearful thoughts, I lost the need to be cautious. I simply followed Spirit into so-called “dangerous” situations. Rather than seek healing for myself, I have experienced the healing of others.” –David
David Hoffmeister teaches about spiritual practice and shares two parables about healing practices (yoga, massage) shifting from a focus on specific techniques and trying to fix the forms, to a unification with Spirit’s perception in which all illness is seen as misperception and the only correction for that misperception lies in forgiveness. All symptoms are effects and all symptoms are symbols which Spirit can use.
When the mind is conflicted, it projects pain onto the body. Pain is a convincing trick of the ego. If you’re identifying with the body, it seems that protection seems to be a pretty good idea. The more you identify with Spirit, or the present moment, the more that state of invulnerability comes in. There’s a sense of safety and you can let go of protecting and defending the body.
How much do you cherish the body? What plans do you make that don’t involved the body? If you watch your mind, you’ll know how much you cherish the body, even as you go about your daily activities. Those little flare ups in emotion signal that you’ve chosen attack.
What is success? You may have specific ideas about what success would look like in your life. Is it built on a concept like the “American Dream,” or some other artificial standard? These societal ideas about the “success” are like a cosmic fig leaf, covering over the separation and belief in guilt and shame. There is no need to cover anything up. There is nothing to hide.
With regards to the body, ACIM is very clear. “A Course in Miracles” teaches that the body is neutral. ACIM daily Lesson 249 carries the thought, “My body is a wholly neutral thing.” (W-294) It does not need special attention in any way. You are not a body, you are Spirit. As you give yourself over to this, there is a lack of interest in the body. It is all about your thoughts! You are working with Jesus and the Holy Spirit to clear your mind.
