Let’s move beyond the two extremes of indulgence and repression. Is there another way? David Hoffmeister discusses the practical way of exposing and releasing the thoughts that surface in awareness as the mind undergoes the forgiveness process. Helena offers her practical experience and examples and David illustrates the metaphysics and the forgiveness process with practical metaphors.
When you listen to people who have addictions, they will talk about indulgence and repression. Some of them have tried the indulgent method, thinking, I will just indulge and indulge and I’ll get over it eventually if I just overindulge. That doesn’t work. Then there is the other method, repression. I’ll just not have it, even though I want it, I’ll tell myself no.
This is very much what Siddhartha had to face. He talked about tightening the string of an instrument too tightly it will break, and if it is too loose it won’t play. He was talking about the middle way. Jesus talks of the miracle.
When you align with your true purpose, you enter into the flow of miracles. Aligned with Spirit, appetites fall away. Instead of fighting the ego, it quiets down. Hear guidance from the Holy Spirit, instead of the ego’s demands. You do not have to tell the ego no, no, no. You do not have to try to satisfy its every desire. With awareness, you can watch the mind. Enter into your purpose and see how the ego’s appetites, desires, and demands fade away.
