How can I align my mind with Spirit and feel guidance in each moment? How can I change my state of mind? On the spiritual journey you often hear about releasing things in order to experience a new awareness. You might start to feel afraid, like, uh-oh, what will I have to give up? This fear is the ego’s perspective. To Spirit, there is no such thing as loss.
When you hear about “releasing” or “letting go” of something, another way to think of it is letting in more and more of the world you interact with. Open up your concept of self to include much more than your limited body.
The belief in separation is in the mind. The human body is a symbol of the belief in separation. The small-self thinks that loss is possible. But is it?
In the perspective of Oneness, it is not possible! Many beautiful A Course in Miracles quotes point to this non-dualistic, inclusive viewpoint: “There is no loss; to think there is, is a mistake,” T-26.II.3:2 “You will be listening to One Who says there is no loss under the laws of God,” W-76.9:3 and “Loss is not loss when properly perceived.” W-284.1:1
Loss is impossible; it is a mistaken perception. When you practice letting go of something, you are not asked to sacrifice something in your life. You might think, oh no, what do I have to let go of? My partner? My family and friends? My house? From the Holy Spirit’s perspective, you are really opening up your mind and letting more and more in.
You are letting in anything that you may have once mistakenly separated yourself from. You take responsibility for it and include it in your identity. The small-self has difficulty computing this idea because the small-self is the idea of loss! Spirit asks you to slowly, gently, open up your mind to a different possibility.
You are asked to see that your identity is everywhere. The town or city you live in is in your mind, and every person you speak to is in your mind. There is no world or cosmos apart from your mind.
Judgment is the rejection of some part of the image you see from your concept of self. You judge an image of a body and maintain that you are separate from it. This is the “gap” that ACIM talks about. The small-self perceives a space that separates each body. The gap is an illusion.
“As you loosen all of these concepts and beliefs in your mind with the Spirit, and you start to become more inclusive, you get prompts that are in your mind and come from your Spirit. They are very helpful … You might say that your higher Self knows that you are caught in a maze of duality. Anyone who has ever done a maze knows that there are a lot of turns to make in a maze. That is where the prompts come in.”
The prompts involve actions, behaviors that you might have to do in the maze. They are helpful judgments. They help you discern, or choose, the practical action that will be most helpful within the maze of duality. When you follow the inner prompts, you are led to a point where you can release the situation entirely.
