How did the separation happen? This is a very common question for students of A Course in Miracles, but it is also a question that has no answer. To ask the question implies the questioner’s belief in the separation from God. The ego is the one asking the question. An experience will come to end all doubting, to end all questions. An experience that separation from God is impossible, and has actually never happened.
“This world has no reality, is hypothetical. This world is ‘as if’ the separation occurred, ‘as if’ Christ could leave God. ‘As if’ Love could be forgotten, ‘as if’ time could come to take the place of eternity. But, the Course’s answer is the correction so let us look more closely at the correction. The Atonement, or the correction, is the awareness that the separation never happened. So, it’s impossible to have a reason for something that never happened. This world is a dream ‘as if’ the separation happened!”
