What’s the correct use of the body? What is it for? David Hoffmeister explains the practical application of A Course in Miracles by sharing a story about a friend who hypnotized herself to not see her body, and yet still had guilt to expose and release before experiencing the neutrality of the body and the disappearance of the universe.

After this story and healing lesson, David shares the experience of the whole mind or forgiven dream in which there are no “parts” or judgments present.

To the Holy Spirit, the body is neutral. Not to the untrained mind albeit, which seems to be part of the world of duality. The body seems to be either highly valued or devalued. People either try to harm the body or they try to glorify it. Either way, it is making the body more than neutral.

Thereby, they reinforce their identification with the body. You can see how subtle this is. You don’t want to glorify and you don’t want to cut it down as if it is a problem. You just want to find your purpose. Then the body will be used just as a symbol, as a communication device.
