What is my identity? Who am I? How do I define myself? Maybe you’ve had the feeling that Neo had in the movie The Matrix, that there is a splinter in your mind driving you crazy. It is a deep-down feeling that something is not right. It makes you question your self-concept.

You are not your body. You are not the roles that you play. Your identity is not in your name, your career, your appearance, history, or possessions. Your identity is beyond time and space. In the Bible, Jesus tells us to be meek. He is telling us to be gentle with ourselves. But how can you be gentle with yourself if you identify with the ego?

The ego is the idea that your identity is a body that will die. The ego-idea is one of separation. When you are identified with the ego, you believe that you can gain or lose. The deceived mind is addicted to these thoughts.

Anxiety and discomfort comes with having a split mind. People try to feel better by changing things out in the world. They try to see if they can feel free by giving away all of their things, living a life of renunciation and simplicity. It doesn’t matter what you do in form. People do those things and still can feel miserable. It is in the mind that the healing happens.  It is not the possessions that are the problem, it is the belief in possessions that is the problem! It is an identity crisis in the mind.

Question your beliefs. Go into your mind. Contemplate your identity. Find out where you have attachments to false beliefs and false identities. The healing happens in the mind. Accept what is real, and forgive what is not. Forgiveness is a living experience. You can feel it!

Ask what the purpose is for what you are doing. Shift from being driven by the ego to forgiveness. The Holy Spirit will help you with the mind training. Then you can be truly loving and helpful, drawing forth loving witnesses. Be patient. You can change your perception and free your identity!
