David Hoffmeister shares an experience he had while practicing A Course in Miracles workbook lesson 163, “There is no death. The Son of God is free.” He had the experience that death is synonymous with the ego and does not exist. A woman in front of David had collapsed on the ground and stopped breathing in the grocery store he was in while practicing the ACIM lesson. When David had this experience, the women seemed to be a reflection of mind and simultaneously began breathing again. What does Jesus mean by, “There is no death. The Son of God is free”? He’s really saying, “There is no ego. The Son of God is free.”
“When we ask the question, ‘what happens after we die?’, or it could be another version of it, ‘where do we go after we die?’. As if we have a soul that’s in a body that’s looking through these eyes, and listening through these ears and so on and so forth. And then where does that soul go? Do we transition to another realm or do we have a holding pattern that we have for a while until we reincarnate and come back and give it another go? All of these things seem like very legitimate kind of questions but the more we practice A Course in Miracles, the more we start to have actual experiences that dissolve the questions. Even death is just a concept.”
