If this is a dream, does that mean I have to take all responsibility for events in the world? Does “I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts” (W-54) mean I am responsible for an earthquake? The answer lies in “My Self is ruler of the universe.” (W-253) What we experience is what we desire. Giving and receiving are the same. The world is projected thought images. The world is not outside of mind. Our ego’s perception is fragmented and shows fragments, but they are all the same. Trust Spirit. With healed perception you see wholeness; you experience peace; you become a miracle worker.
Abandonment
Exposing the Tiny Mad Idea
The belief that you could separate from Source and accomplish insanity is the “tiny mad idea” that Jesus talks about in “A Course in Miracles.” The mind, in reality, cannot accomplish this. The belief that you could separate from Source is a horrific idea. It’s mad. It’s insane! The belief that you are a separate consciousness takes a lot of active denying, pushing out, and repressing because it is so intolerable to your mind. Your natural state is unified, peaceful, and loving.
“As If” the Separation Occurred
The world is based on hypothetical possibilities. The mind is described “as if” it has two parts. An event on the timeline has to be an “as if.” As if it will, or could possibly, occur; as if the separation occurred. The whole teaching of ACIM is that the Atonement is a complete escape from the past and a complete lack of interest in the future. This zooms us into an experience. The only thing that makes anything helpful is zoomed into by asking one question, “What is the purpose?” This is an age-old question. And the answer is: it is for Love, for Joy. It is a celebration of divine Innocence.
Why Do I Feel Incomplete?
When you are in your Holy Spirit-given function you are guaranteed to be happy. When you seek for happiness through external means you will always feel incomplete. Think about Hollywood. In Hollywood there is great wealth, fame, glamor, and glitz. The ego says if you had those things then you could be happy. But it’s apparent that it’s not really the case! Instead you see suicide and depression! Why is it that the people that have most of the things that the rest of the world is looking for, aren’t happy?
Shine Away the Feeling of Abandonment
How do you heal from a sense of grief and loss? How do you dissolve the feeling of abandonment and pain that come with that sense of loss? All of us have experienced loss of some kind whether it be a pet or a loved one. Some events help put us in touch with this feeling of loss; divorce, funerals, betrayal. Such events give us an incentive to get into our true function. Working miracles is what washes away this deep feeling of loss. You experience a fulfillment from being lined up with your source which shines away the sense of loss. Light up the mind!
Raising Children While Practicing ACIM
Raising children while practicing ACIM can be very powerful! This experience gives you the opportunity to learn from your children. Just because you feel you are in a bigger body with a bigger brain and have read more books does not mean that you are superior. Learn the lesson of perfect equality! Nothing can obscure this perfect equality. Resign from this role of superiority and instead see what is going on in your own mind. Relationships in the world mirror your mind. Children deserve gratitude for mirroring back your belief system. A parent’s darkness and guilt may be acted out by children. If you unconsciously believe in abandonment, you will see scenes of abandonment. Find fearful beliefs in yourself and let them go. As you find inner joy and love, your children will witness to it. Lessen the sense of control. Children are our equals.
